Great OBGYN or CNM in South Miami/Coral Gables?? Please share your experience....

Hi everyone!

I have been searching for a good OBGYN or Certified Nurse/Midwife to start going to now that I am TTC.I would like to be in the care of a good one for when it happens. I live in the Coral Gables area, not far from South Miami... Would love to hear abour your experiences, good or bad...even on the hospitals as well- South Miami vs Baptist?? so I know who to try or who to avoid :)

Main problems for me would be a practice that is way too busy and makes you wait forever for an appt, and then rush you out; or doctors that are just "cold"-- I need someone that actually cares. As per above, I am not set on a OBGYN, started also considering a certified nurse/midwife as I know they can be fantastic and give you more options during labor than doctors.

Thank you in advance for any experiences you can share!!

  • If you are open to Mercy Hospital, I loved my experience with Miami OBGYN... specifically with Dr Guell.  He's not my main doctor, but happened to be on call each time I went in to L&D, and his bedside manners are superb!  He def takes the time to talk to you and make sure all your questions are answered.  There are 5 doctors in the practice, so not guaranteed to be at your delivery, but they are all great IMO.  I usually had the first appt in the AM, and my wait was minimal (even with afternoon appts, I never waited over 20 min).

I also very much loved Mercy Hospital.  The attention received by all nurses (L&D, Maternity and NICU) was great.

I will say though, for the GYN side, the wait is longer.

    GL!

  • Dr. Henry Glick, he's amazing.  He's the only dr in his practice and he is always on call, always on time, and very supportive!  Never a wait time in his office (never more than about 10 min) and the girl at the front is always incredibly polite.  They do most of the u/s in office (except for the NT scan, they send you to a different location.) He delivers at Baptist and at South Miami and even called me after delivery between room visits to make sure i was feeling ok.
  • Myself and a couple of other ladies here see Dr. Kellogg @ Personal Physician's out of Baptist. I absolutely LOVE Dr. K. I think I only had a really long wait about twice during pregnancy. Both times he was coming otut of a surgery/delivery so he was running late. Otherwise, he was awesome. He's hilarious and pretty laid back. I never wanted a male OB but once I met him I decided to change that. He always remembered our names and once we found out we were having a boy he took note of what we were naming him and always referred to him as that.

He was there to deliver my son and I will be going back to him for my next one.

There's another Dr. there Dr. Bestard who I had to see when Dr. K was away and he was really great as well very nice nad super attentive.

  • Thanks a million for all of your recommendations, I have started looking them up and seeing which ones take my insurance (Cigna)... they all sounded like good options!!

    Have a great weekend!!

  • I'm using the big group in South Miami  and they are wonderful. No wait times, 6 doctors ( all of them are great) and ive been sick the entire time and they are always available. Dr. Vizoso and Dr. Hirsh are my favorites!!
