Toddlers: 24 Months+

is anyone's 2 y/o in a gymnastics class?

we're going to attempt this on Saturday and I'm wondering what your experience has been.

They did say we could try a class before having to sign up and pay the joiners fee, but I'm really looking forward to it and I hope she loves it

  • We started DD before she was 2 b'c she was a late walker and a bit delayed in gross motor skills.  She has loved it for the most part!  We did pull her out this session for a break but we'll go back in a couple of weeks.  She picks one thing every week she refuses to do (and it is different every week) but that's just being 2 I think.  GL and enjoy!  We have fun.

  • DD loves hers.  We did the trial class at all the places around here and ultimately went with the one with the best teacher (we liked her and heard good things from a friend).

My DS turns 2 next week and we've been in a gymnastics class for a few months now. He LOVES it! It's been great having this activity especially during the cold winter months. He lets out all his energy and I get a great workout chasing him around!
  • We've done it. We started at 21 months. I'm a SAHM, so it gave us a weekly activity to look forward to together. The class actually was run pretty well and overall I was very pleased. We took a break from the current session because I didn't know if I could keep up with DD 9 months pregnant since it's very hands on for the parent too, but we look forward to signing back up once life settles down a little bit. I found that working on taking turns was great for DD. It's been a month+ since her last class and she still sits on the floor and does her stretches almost everyday....often she tries to make her siblings and dad participate too.

  • Yes, both girls have been in it for about 9 months now. My 2yr old loves it & it's great exerise!

Our experience with the younger dd is that she really enjoys it. I'm suprise how many things she can do-like she's a pro on the balance beam. The only cons is sometimes(since she is so little & is still testing us) she tries to run off(like to join her sister's class or get on the trampolines, etc). She thinks it's funny. Since the gym is so busy we really have to keep on our toes with her. Have fun!

  • My DD just started gymnastics this month.  Since she's close to 3, they put her in the preschool class where the parents don't participate.  She absolutely loves the class.

  • Yes, DD really seems to enjoy it. But it took a few classes before she started focusing on what the teachers were saying/instructing instead of running around and wanting to play on all the equipment by herself.

  • We started DD in a weekly class right when she turned two.  Parents participate in this class too.  It's 10 weeks and the first week was absolute chaos.  Toddlers running everywhere!  It was like herding cats.  The instructor said that the difference between the first class and last class is absolutely amazing and to stick it out.  And she's right!  Even by the third week, DD had learned to wait in line, listen better to directions, and follow the routine.  She absolutely loves it and talks about it all the time!  Good luck!!
  • We start next week.  I can't wait to see what he thinks!
