I'm being induced on Monday but am getting really nervous about it. I keep on reading that you are more inclined to have a csection if you are induced. I am only 1cm and have been for the past 5 weeks. I'm afraid my body will not take the induction. For those who were induced, did you have a vaginal birth or a c-section?

Re: Induction and Csection?
I had an extremely long induction. 2.5 days into it, my Dr. gave me the option of a c-section because I hadn't progressed any. This was at 6:00. I had had enought, and scheduled the section for in the morning. They took the Cervadil out at 9:15. I was so disappointed when I hadn't made any progress that my nurse let me get off the monitors, go for a walk, and take a shower. My water broke on its own at 10:55. Ollie was born at 4:39.
My point is, progress can be made very quickly. Do not lose hope in your body.

My induction with DD#1 started at 41 weeks. It took 3 days and ended in a vaginal delivery with minimal tearing.
I have the full story in my blog:
But day 1 was just misopropal (like cervadril). Day 2 started pitocin. Day 3 maxed out pitocin, made a lot more progress, epi midday, and baby at 1028 that night.
I was induced at 36 weeks, 2 days because DD kept flunking her NST's. My body was no where near ready. Completely closed and 0% effaced. The induction lasted for 4 days, but I had a vaginal delivery. They finally had to use a Foley Bulb to get my cervix to cooperate and it was incredibly painful for me, but I'd consider it again if it meant avoiding a c-section.
I agree with other PP's. Your current dilation doesn't tell much as things can change so fast. My good friend was 1 cm and 50% effaced at her 39 week appointment and gave birth 3 hours later on the DC beltway!! Another friend walked around at 4 cm for over a month.
