Snide comment rant...

Today is St. Patty's day so we teachers always try to be a little festive and fun for our kids. I pulled on a green sweater that I had not worn since last year and it fit, actually covering my belly! Hooray! I work in a middle school with some absolutely amazing teachers...and a few old crotches tossed in the mix to make the rest of us miserable at times ;) ! One of the particularly bitter hags stepped into my classroom today and in front of all the kids said:

"I just have to ask...did you squeeze yourself into a pre-maternity sweater today just because it was green? It's going to be pretttttty stretched out if you ever want to wear it again." She smiles and bats her eyelashes, enjoying being able to "joke around" with me at my expense.

I was at the overhead projector correcting a grammar sentence and simply said in the sweetest voice I could muster, "Well, I guess I'll just have to boil it before I put it in the dryer a million times. BYE!"  Wink

My kids all did me the honor of giving her dirty looks and rolling their eyes until she left! I love my 8th graders!!! Seriously, what is with some women saying ridiculously rude things to the preggos? Do you have that little self esteem that you need to tear down the cute, round-bellied, waddling girls of the world? Anyone else getting embarrassingly rude comments?

  • I don't know what it is, but there's something about a pregnant chick that makes some people zero in and say some of the weirdest insulting things I've ever heard...

  • Some people need filters!

I went to a spa for a pedicure on Tuesday and the receptionist, in a rather loud voice says "WHOA!! When are you due?"  Then when I told her it's twins and I have 4 weeks to go she asked me if I was going to be able to walk down the stairs to the pedicure room (and not in a concerned way, more of a sarcastic way). I wanted to say "No, you're going to have to carry me!" but I just smiled and said, "Yes, I'll manage." I probably shouldn't be, but I was a bit surprised that a person working at a nice spa said these things.

  • Geez! They are supposed to pamper you, not make you feel like crap! Sooo dumb!

  • I also have one of those co-workers that throws passive aggressive jabs at me too.  Especially now that I am much bigger....I pay her no mind.  I really want to slap the sh!t out of her but I refrain.

  • yeah people really don't seem to know how to censor themselves sometimes. I had a girl on the elevator ask me when I was due. I told her and she want on to say you are big. Granted I was wearing an oversized parka jacket that made me probably look a little bigger. But I wanted to say thanks and take a whack at her at the same time. But I didn't and I just smiled instead. People have a lot of nerve.
