HAHA totally kidding! But I was subbing today for a child named Cougar. I thought,"what kind of a parent names their child Cougar"? (it was written on the teacher's attendance, on his desks etc..)
Well I finally figured out that his real name is Isaac. I asked him why everyone calls him Cougar, he said that it came from his mom saying her was very fast.
Anyway long story short, stop worrying about figuring out a NN for your child before they are even born. I'm sure Cougar's mom never expected Isaac to turn into Cougar!
On another note, there was a boy in the same class named Saige....yuck!!! If your going to go with a feminine sounding, herb...at least spell it right!!
Re: Cougar?
A few years back I had a student named Cougar. His father said it was because they used to call him Gato in the womb (Spanish for cat), but didn't think Gato was a manly enough name, so they went with Cougar.
On a side note, one of our neighbors is a woman named Tiger, real name, not a nn. She's probably mid-30's.
