Those who run with their LO's....

How old was your LO when you started running with them?

Re: Those who run with their LO's....

  • I have a stroller with a car seat attachment so I have been running since 4 months. I know that I could have done it a little sooner but I just got back into running:)

  • I was wondering the same! More mommas need to answer Wink I'm due in 2 weeks, got my BOB all ready to go and I want to know when me and this little biscuit will be able to jog together after they're born?

? I heard 2.5-3months but wanted more advice too...

  • With DD, I ran with her in stroller at 4 months but I didn't have the infant attachment on my BOB so I had to wait till head control was good.

For DS, I had the infant insert on double BOB so I started running with him at 3 weeks old.  I ran on a flat trail near my house with both kids.

  • within a month of having LO I was running with her.  It was the only time she would sleep but there were plenty of times when we were running through neighborhoods and she was screaming!!!
  • I didn't realize you could run with them in the infant seat!  I skipped out on the infant seat attachment for my BOB because I just thought you had to wait for good head control and no running with the seat attached.  This is good news for me and bad for the wallet.  :)

  • I started with both kids around 6 weeks with the carseat adapter.

I just want to add though, that when it comes to running with them in the stroller (without the adapter) it isn't only a matter of head control. It is also about how strong their back muscles are. No matter how good their head control, you really should wait until at least 6 months to run with them sitting directly in the stroller.

This.  No matter how flat the trail, they still get shaken pretty good while running.  Their little back and core muscles aren't ready for that.

I never got the carseat adapter for my double BOB, so we started occasionally at 6 months and are now running every day at 8 months.

  • 3 weeks.  I ran with the carseat in the BOB Revolution.  I know you're not supposed to but I stuck to very smooth trails and roads.

  • I also ran with the car seat adapter and BOB Ironman at 3 weeks. I transitioned her into the regular seat at around 6 months. Running was great with her until 12 months - after that, she really didn't ever want to sit still for any period of time, so the longest running I can get in nowadays is 20 minutes. Just something to be prepared for - I thought I'd be able to run with her much longer but toddlers really want to do their own walking.
