The dreaded spotting!

I know it's "normal" and I know I shouldn't freak out, but I do! I had an internal exam on Tuesday morning at the OB and I spotted a little bit Tuesday afternoon. Then it had went away and I thought all was good. This morning I wake up to use the bathroom and there is brown spotting. UGH! It's just the brown spotting and it's not very heavy, but dear lord, can't ANYTHING be easy for us? I have until Thursday for my first ultrasound so I have a whole week to continue to freak out about nothing and then after that I still have a good 7.5-8 months to continue to worry.

No point to this post. I'm just venting. Plus I feel really shaky and ready to pass out this morning for some reason so I had a granola bar and I've already downed 2 bottles of water. I just can't shake the blah feeling today!

  • Have you had any protein today?  My doc was always getting after me for not getting enough protein because I would feel shaky and icky without it.  I hope you start feeling better soon.  And if you are worried don't hesitate to call your doc!

  • Oh honey, I can't imagine how unsettling that must be for you. It makes total sense to me that you're frightened and bit gun shy with this pregnancy. I pray everything goes as it should for you and that your pregnancy is healthy and uneventful.

  • So sorry!  I had the same thing happen early on and all was fine so hopefully you will get some good news too!  T and P for you!

  • You have every right to feel this way!  I had horrible red bleeding in the beginning, and I know how scary that can be.  No matter what anyone says, you are going to worry your entire pregnancy.  That's inevitable!  I know I analyzed every cramp and weird feeling.  Hope you have an uneventful rest of the pregnancy.  I hope these next few months go by smoothly for you!

  • I would venture to guess nearly all pregnant women would freak out at least a little if they were spotting.  I know I would have.  I have my fingers, toes, and everything else crossed that you a have a strong little bean growing in there, and he/she will be staying put for the next 8 months.  (((HUGS))) sweetie!

  • It happened to me for a few days after my first internal too. I hope it stops so you don't have to worry about that anymore. Keeping you in my prayers for a happy and healthy 9 mo.
  • Try to stay positive.  It's brown and that's good.  ((HUGS))  I know that has to be frightening.  I freaked out over everything this pg because of the miscarriage before this one, so I can only imagine what you are feeling!

Yes...this! Protein was SO helpful for me, especially in the morning.

  • I had brown spotting and even full-on bleeding for about 11 weeks this time, and my doctor always assured me that brown blood was old and nothing to worry about.  I know that doesn't take your worry away, but maybe if you call your OB so you can get some reassurance, that will help?  Internal exams always cause me to bleed during pregnancy, too.  I hope this next week passes quickly for you so you can get to that appointment.  I know how scary it is, but I'm sure you have nothing to worry about.

  • Brown spotting = older blood.  Not fresh.  Consider that to be a good thing.

FWIW, I had brown spotting with my pregnancy too.  I think b/c I m/c'd first, it was scarring or something like that from the first pregnancy.  When I m/c'd, it was bright red blood... and a LOT of it.
