Washington Babies

OB WWYD

Dr. G was my OB with Austin and I was less than impressed. She was ok at best but I really don't like her staff. I transferred my care last fall to Dr. R. When I got my BFP I called Dr. R and was told he doesn't deliver babies anymore. So I said I would go back to Dr. G because I don't want to search. I have been feeing crappy so I attempted to call Dr. G's office, after being on hold forever I just walked up to her office. I work on the 1st fore she is on the 3rd. The front desk wasn't even on the phone, so I left a message for the nurse. 2 hours later I get a call back and was told too bad so sad about my symptoms. So I am super irritated and now I really think I should switch now. Problem is she convienent, but is that a really good reason to stay?

Re: OB WWYD

  • You have to see her monthly, then biweekly, then weekly.  In between, you'll have a hundred questions (or only maybe 50 since this is the second time around).  How convenient is it really to go through this irritation and frustration each time?

  • Switch!

I ended up switching providers at 32 weeks because the original provider I had chosen & I didn't see eye to eye & I was no longer happy with the care I was receiving from her (she is a GP).  I switched to a high risk OB (I was a high risk pregnancy due to HTN) at the UW & was so much happier.  I wish I had switched long before I did.  Switching was the best decision I made.

  • I live/work on the eastside and my OB is on the west side.  It is totally inconvenient but I love her and am willing to travel, in traffic, (and pay stupid 520 tolls when they start) just to see her.

  • I would totally switch. If they're not supporting you now, they probably never will. You need someone you can trust and build a relationship with. GL!

  • I would switch. I wound up with a yeast infection/thrush that was shooting pain through my boobs, right after we moved to Eugene and saw the first OB that would see me. She was unfriendly and harsh and I knew there was no way I could work with her after that. If you're not happy, switch. You deserve to feel comfortable with your doctor. Can you find another OB that is near where you work that is still semi-convenient?

  • I think you should switch, too!  This person is supposed to help support you in your health, baby's health and your best interests.  And the fact that you didn't like this person the first time around speaks a lot about how you will likely feel again.  Listen to your gut and switch.

I love my OB and feel very confident in his care.  You should have the same feeling when you see or talk with your Dr.

  • I vote for switch.  I didn't really care for my OB but never got around to switching.  He was a total a$$ during delivery and I wished I would have switched.  Find somebody you like.
  • I would also switch.  Better now when you are early in your pregnancy.
  • thanks ladies, I talked to my BFF. She went to associated valley OBGYN, I am going to call and make an appointment today.

Definitely switch.  Associated Valley OBGYN is great.  I had Dr. Channell but the other docs there are awesome too.  Convenience is great but if you are going to wind up irritated after each visit that's not really worth it either.

I saw Dr. Webb for my second pregnancy...loved her. The office runs really well I was never left waiting forever for my appointment to start.

  • I have an appointment on the 30th for an ultrasound and an RN visit, and then I see Dr. Kovacs on April 6th.  Huge relief.  Thanks again for confirming what I knew all along :)

  • I'm pretty sure Dr. Kovacs assisted in my c section with Hayden.  I really liked her a lot!  Good luck on the 30th.
