DS went from Todd II to EP I (early preschool)

He has been transitioning this week, and I had to drop him ot EP I today.  The kids look SO big!!!  He looks like a little guy in there!  Luckily, he is transitioning with a few friends, so he knows a few there, but I felt so bad.  He was distracted with a puzzle when I got him in the room, but I forgot his bag, so I had to go get it, and when I came into the room the second time, he saw me and started walking towards me, and I knew that was trouble!   He didn't cry, but when i was trying to leave, I did see him start the 'cry face' and it made me sad!  I distracted him to one of his friends and got out of there.  I figured it would be better not seeing me.

It's so funny, when I hear about ppl being "emotional" about something silly like this (I mean, really - he is only 2 y/o and just going into the next class - hardly a big deal), I think they are being crazy, but then when it happens to me, I know how they feel!  lol.

  • Wow, I can't believe he is almost 2! And I am the same way as you. I always think these things are just a simple next step and no big deal, but then when the day comes for me to help him make the transition I get emotional after I drop him off. Well, the first day at daycare I cried like a baby when I was handing him over and cried all the way to work, but that is different.  :-)

At least he has a few friends transitioning with him. I am sure he will have a great day, and in a few days he won't even look back when you drop him off.

  • Awwww :(  I got a little choked up just reading your post.  It's crazy how fast time goes.

I've signed Tyler up for "preschool" next year (his sitter will take him) and it's making me sad just thinking about it.  Heck, it breaks my heart when he cries in the nursery at church every week!
