I am finally taking the time to post my birth story. My last day of work was March 1st. In the 3 appointments that my dr. checked my cervix, I had NOTHING going on! NADA!! It was very disappointing. So, we had talked about me being induced on March 12th, if I continued with no progression. I had pretty much told myself that I was going to have a week or so to get ready for baby after going on maternity leave. So, my first day off (March 2nd), I didn't do anything, just rested. I decided that the next day I would start getting hospital bags packed and making sure all was ready. I had my 39/40 week appointment scheduled for March 3rd and was feeling no different. So, I was sure i was going to go in and still have no progress. Well, baby had other plans! My water broke at 11:45 p.m. on March 2nd. I was not have any contractions. So, luckily I was in no pain as my wonderful husband ran around the house getting my bags packed (his were ready). We headed to the hospital around 1 a.m. I was still in no pain when we arrived, so they got me hooked up, checked in and monitored. Apparently I was having 3 min long contractions, but I just thought they were braxton hicks, because they didn't hurt. The dr. decided to start me on Pitosin around 4 a.m., since I was only 1 cm dilated and 50% effaced. Well, my body responded very well to the Pitosin...contractions got stronger very quickly. When they checked me again around 7 a.m., I was only 1 1/2 cm and 70% effaced. They decided to up the Pitosin and dr. said I could have my epi whenever I was ready. It didn't take long for me to be ready
Those suckers HURT!!! At about 10:30 a.m., the nurse told me that the dr. wanted to get some more fluid to the baby, since I wasn't progressing very quickly. She decided to check me one more time and i was FULLY dilated! She was very surprised! She asked me if i felt any pressure and I said NOPE! I was numb and didn't know what I should be feeling. Looking back, I did feel it, but had no idea what it was. Anyway, Kyle Douglas was born at 11:44 a.m. on March 3rd after about 30 min of pushing. I feel so lucky to have had a fairly easy labor! My mom says it's
God's way of tricking me into having another one
She's right, I'd do it again in a heartbeart! My little boy is the sweetest thing I've ever seen and I'm so proud to have him!! I'm going to try and post some pictures! Good luck to everyone!!
Re: Birth Story and Hopefully pictures :)
OOPS!! I've never done pictures before! I'll see if I can figure out how to make them smaller.
