Which one do you have and what was the main reason you choose it vs. another video unit/brand? We have an audio one that is on the fritz and want a video one. TIA
we have the Summer Infant Day & Night video monitor. We got it for our shower and love the fact that we can see the girls, ESPECIALLY when they were newborns, but this particular brand or model IMO isnt that great.... the video is probably a 7 out of 10 (and thats because there is a BRIGHT nightlight- w/out it we couldnt see a thing) and the sound interference is horrible! I have no idea on any other ones, so IMO, dont get this brand because it isnt worth the money Lol

DH did the research, but I think his final reason for selecting it over the more popular Summer Infant (or whatever it's called) is that it was more secure. It's digital and you can't see other people's monitors or worry about them seeing yours.
ok, i think it's time to remove this monitor from my girls' room. ahhhhhhhhhhhhh scary...

We got a Safety 1st. My DH liked the size of the hand held and the screen on it. The reviews were the best. I love it but there is 2 things I hate. 1) It only charges when it's on and 2) There is interference with our wireless internet when the monitor is on

we have the summer slim and secure handheld video---and we love love love it. We've had zero interference issues and b/c it's digital it's secure as well.
The screen size is ample, the battery life is pretty good and it lets you add up to four cameras if you have other kids so you can just buy the camera part and only use one handheld to see your kids. This will be great when we have our second!
Dont know much about the other brands out there, I was always told by friends summer infant video was the standard....but that's just what I heard!

We have this one also. We just got it after we moved DD to a twin bed so I haven't had it too long but up until last night I have had no complaints..last night I woke up and turned on the screen and it said there was a low frequency and something else was also written up on the screen (I can't remember because I was half asleep) but anyway the sound was off and the screen was frozen. It happened twice and I turned it off and then back on again to unfreeze it. If it keeps happening I will call the company but other than that I like it a lot...hopefully it was just a fluke.
It's not actually a baby monitor, it's a regular video surveillance camera. But it's awesome! The picture is really clear, our next door neighbor (we share a wall) has the same one and we've never had any interference. We're planning to get a 2nd camera for DC#2 and you can view both cameras on the same monitor.
We got the Levana one. DH did the research, but I think his final reason for selecting it over the more popular Summer Infant (or whatever it's called) is that it was more secure. It's digital and you can't see other people's monitors or worry about them seeing yours. Plus, it has the ability to turn on music remotely, and sometimes, that is all S needs to fall back asleep on her own. We're still using it and have been very happy with it so far. It's also super easy to pack - we've brought it on multiple vacations with us.
ETA: We DO get internet interference if the monitor is right next to the laptop. Specifically, we get booted off the internet. However, we simply put the monitor across the room and then it and the internet work fine.
This is what we have as well, it was a gift from my mom.

The main reasons I got it was that I found it on clearance for a great deal and it had good customer reviews. However I have been VERY happy with it. It got damaged on a trip (long story, but totally not the because of something wrong with the monitor). I called the customer service. It was actually a couple days past the warranty and they still said I could send it in. Came back in about a week good as new. I was very pleased.
We have the Summer Infant Day&Night Color Handheld Monitor. It was a hand-me-down gift from my cousin, and I love it. I don't like the big monitor ones, since they take up too much room, and the hand held one I can detach and take downstairs with me. If I had to buy a new one at this point, I would probably want one that you can move the camera remotely, since soon DS will be in a toddler bed and mobile around the room.
