To Buy or Not to Buy . . .

So money is tight, as I feel like it is for everyone in the world these days.  So I am not opposed to buying some good gear used online, and I have been cruicing Craigslist like crazy the last week or so.  But I am torn about whether or not I should buy stuff or wait until I have a baby shower.  I know the women in my family and circle of family friends are big time registry shoppers and were super generous when I had my bridal shower. But my shower won't be until early June and I feel like there are things I would like to start getting now so we aren't hit with all kinds of stuff left to buy right before the baby comes just in case.  Any thoughts on whether I should buy or wait?

    I say start buying if that makes you feel more comfortable.

    We're tight as well so I'm having my shower at 28 weeks so we have a month to get things. Full term is 37 weeks so I need everything DONE by then (if not before). I figure every dollar counts, and if I can get most of the essentials at the shower that's more money for diapers, wipes, ect.

    Wait.

    There's lots of time to buy the things you think you need. Some things you can get at different stages, too... so buying ahead just spends the money you don't have when you didn't need to spend it.

    Craigslist, Kijiji, Freecycle are great resources that won't disappear! You can always resort to them in the future. Don't stress about having to get everything ahead of time.

    A good idea would be to put away a little bit of money NOW for the things you think you'll need to buy so that when you actually do need them (IF you actually end up needing them), you've got bank to depend on.
