I have a gross question

Can iron pills make your poo green?  Not shamrock green or anything (although the timing couldn't be more fortuitous what with St. Patrick's Day tomorrow) but more like a darkish green.  I started taking them on Saturday because I'm slightly anemic, and since then, well....

    I think so. Hubs had to take iron for a while and think I remember him saying something about evergreen poo. Aren't these awesome digestive changes the best?

    I hadn't connected to two, but at my last appt. my iron was low and I started taking supplements. I have been trying to figure out for the last few says what has been making my poo green, looks like its the iron!

    Iron supplements can definitely cause dark tarry stools as well as constipation. So fun!

    yeah it'll discoloour it a bit.......... funny how your body reacts to certain things - who would have thought iron = greenish poo!

    I was thinking the same thing. If you've never taken B vitamins before, your first pee after a day or so on them is a little disconcerting - neon yellow!

    Yep! Happened when they put me on them after DD's birth. I think my bottle had a warning label.

    This post made me laugh.  Oh yeah, you can tell when you've taken an iron supp, haha.  Constipation + green poo = awesome.

    LOL yes this is totally normal...it says right on my bottle "may colour your stool and urine" with a little clipart of a paint palette HAHAHA!
