Just got out of court....

Well that was like something I've never expected. But it went better as planned. After all the other cases were heard it was our turn and I immediately asked for a mediation because I did not want to regret letting the judge have the final say in mine and my exes situation. So mediation was a breath of fresh air and the way everything was presented I felt like I go a good deal. But looking back right now there are a few things I would like to amend. Anyone else experience regret after mediation?

My ex refused to consider anything the mediator had to say during our several hearings.  In the end I compromised on custody and part of me wishes that I hadn't but at the same time I am glad he spends so much time with my daughter and that they will have a relationship.

  • Hey if you felt like you got a good deal and things can be amicable, that's whats in the best interest of your LO.  If you want to amend it, you can probs just file another petition to go back to court.  You're in jersey, right?  Pretty sure you can go back if you want to.

If you don't mind me asking, what do you want to amend about it?

  • i left my job because my son had recurring ear infections and has to have tubes put in and my job was not family friendly. When I brought this up in court they said since i quit my job i have to report my salary as income for child support. so if i was still a stay at home mom, exbf would have to pay more. than he had already claimed our son on his taxes, got a sizable return, i got nothing and he hadn't paid me any money since i left seven months ago, stole the crib my parents bought for my son and has not paid any of the hospital bills. believe it or not all of my amendments were in my originial petition for custody but were not brought up in court. so now i'm out the income tax money, my son's crib, all the hopsital bills from the birth of my son and he still hasnt paid one penny in almost 8 months. but he made a profit from the income taxes. UGH!
