Yep, it looks umm.. mashed. May I ask if you are older then 18?
A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

I have tried damn near EVERY name with my last name..and nothing fits.
When DH and I were looking, we seriously went through every name in every letter of the alphabet on babynames.com. Excessive yes, but we had a hard time agreeing on names. We ended up with a pretty good list. You'll find something, I promise.

So you think a made up name is the way to go then? Serious, pick a name that doesn't go with your last name, but at least is a name. Your child will grow up and you are creating an instant resentment with this name.

I resent my parents for my name. I think everybody goes through a phase of resenting their name at some point in their lives.
Oookay, and that makes YOU want to saddle your child with a name she'll surely resent you for? For the record, I've never resented my parents for my name.
It's awful. Probably one of my top 10 least favorite names I've seen on this board.

Do you really want her nn to be Charm ? I don't want to be mean at all, but I just think you are giving some kids in her future classes material to work with. It is really awful.
It's bad, no matter how it's pronounced. Sorry. I would keep looking.
What about: Charisma, Charity, Charlize, Charlene, Charissa
And I have to say, both Charm and Harmony are stipper sounding names to begin with. Not trying to mean, just honest.
Charlize is pretty. I would take this poster's suggestions and look for the sounds/letters that you both like about the name, and keep searching. If you try nymbler.com with Harmony-it gives you Melody, Scarlett, Lana, Raine, Emily, etc. Good luck!
I would suggest either going with Charmaine or going back to the drawing board. If you decide to start over, please don't "mash" anymore names together.
Hm the intentions were good but not a fan. Mashed names are rarely liked.... How about Charleen, Caramia, Charmaine (shahr-MAYN), Charmian....those are all on behindthename.com which I think only has legit names. They are still a little different and she can still go by Charm or Lucky if you like for some. Though I think she can go by Lucky no matter what you name her....she is lucky for more than just a name

hubby came up with the spelling and won't let me change it..So i think when it comes time to fill out paperwork for the birth certificate...I'm gonna send him on a coffee run...lol then he can't say anything about it :P

Won't *let* you? Um, last time I checked, you were carrying this baby and get just as much say as he does in a name. Period. I don't even think joking about this kind of stuff is funny at all and these kinds of comments seem to pop up all to often from posters for my liking. Your job as a parent is to give your child a GOOD name. Not a stripper name, not a misspelled name, not a name to have to be overcome.
He likes the spelling how it is. And believe it or not, a lot of names are either porn star names or stripper names. May not say that in baby name books, but they are.

Yeah, the more you post the more this has to be MUD. Good try though.

Charmony is really really bad. "Making up" names is never a good idea. This is a really big deal. She's going to have to live with this name for the rest of her life. Can you honestly imagine a doctor or a lawyer with the name Charmony? A name shouldn't be something someone has to "overcome".
And I think you're completely wrong with your statement that everyone hates their name at some point. I have never hated my name or wished it was different. Your daughter will though, if you name her this.
Just an aside though, the actress who played Aunt Josephine in the Anne of Green Gables movies was named Charmion King. It fit her, but she was born in 1925 so I have no idea where the name came from.

So your husband wants his daughter to be a hooker? That's all I can think of when I read that name. Especially combined with Rayne...UGH.

Toilet paper brand.

This probably makes it even worse.
I never went through a phase of hating my name, or my parents for giving me that name. I think you might be speaking for yourself here.

Why not try to break this cycle with your daughter? My parents gave me a lovely name and I am grateful to them for it.
Charlize is a great suggestion. I'm not a huge fan of Charmaine, but at least it's a legit name. Charmony is awful on so many levels.
