I have been doing LO's laundry in preparation of her arrival and have decided that it is going to be near impossible to keep track of all of the micro sized mittens and socks. How do you keep from losing all of the teenie parts of your LO's wardrobe? We also have one dog that already thinks DH's stinky socks are fun to play with and I can only imagine what she will think when she sees a tiny version of the same thing that may have fallen off of Lo's foot and onto the floor.
I know in the grand scheme of things I will not be worried about this once LO arrives but I was just curious if anyone has found a good way of keeping track of the little things.
TIA
Re: Lurker from March Board w/ newborn clothes question...
Are you worried about losing them in the washer or in the drawers? Or worried about your dog running off with them?
For me I put all the tiny socks and mittens in a langerie bag in the washer then I pair them together and put them in the drawer. We dont have acurious dog like you and we have still misplaced a couple socks and mittens, I think its just something that is going to happen no matter what you do, we just try to keep an eye on them, but I'm sure when she is 2 or something and I am cleaning under the couch I will find them. LOL
We too use a lingerie bag while washing the little stuff. That bag stays on top of the laundry basket of folded stuff and gets put away first. I swear, even on days where our laundry doesn't get put away, those socks go back where they belong, or they'll never make it.
In her closet, we have a fabric hanging shelf we got from IKEA that we use to sort the small stuff. One pocket for socks, one for bibs, one for mitts etc.
We don't have a dog to worry about like you do, but maybe having gone through holey socks of his own will make your DH more diligent about making sure the baby's stuff gets put away properly ASAP.
Like PP said, use the lingerie bag to keep socks, mittens, etc from getting lost in the laundry. I also use one for washing bibs to keep the velcro from ruining her clothing.
To keep DD's socks on I bought a few pairs of those soft sole shoes Robeez. It keeps her socks on and will prevent them getting lost and keeping her feet warm. For the first month you will have LO in footed sleepers/pants anyways and you won't have to worry about it.
Yup, same here. We wash all of her things in a lingerie bag. It kinda helps keep them in better shape too and not get too beat up in my washing machine.
We also keep a separate drawer for accessories - socks, hats, shoes, and bows.
