So I had to be induced at 38 weeks due to Pre-Eclampsia...
BUT, one of my good friends is 41 weeks tomorrow and NO ONE is saying ANYTHING about induction. She is miserable and can't sleep and the little one is sluggish with movements (no doubt to the shrinking space in which to move). She is going in tomorrow to be monitored, but nothing said about induction. Did you bring it up to your doctor? Or did they bring it up to you?
Re: Question : Did you wait till 40 weeks? And were you induced?
I went into labor with DD#1 at 41 weeks. I had an appointment for 41 weeks 1 day and my doc said that they would do a NST and if that went well they would let me go longer. I asked and induction earlier but my doc prefered to let me go on my own.
I was induced with DD#2 though at 39 weeks 1 day for high BP.
She can always ask.
My OB let me know around 38 weeks (at my weekly appt) that if I made it to 41 weeks they would induce at 41 weeks 1 day. I got a call from the hospital at 41 weeks exactly to just solidify when I was supposed to come in the next day, etc. If my dr hadn't brought it up though, I definitely would have!
My doctor told me early on they wouldn't let me go past 40 weeks. That's their policy. I delivered at 38 weeks so I never had to consider induction but I think I would have tried to let myself go naturally; due dates can be off.
I believe once you get to 42 weeks it starts getting dangerous though. I'm sure they'll check on baby and fluid levels if she's going in to be monitored and they should certainly discuss induction.
At my 40 week appointment I begged my ob to induce me and that I couldn't take it anymore, she was going to let me go to 42 weeks if I didn't go naturally. She induced me at 41 weeks to the day, (hospitals rules won't allow an induction before then if it wasn't medically necessary)
I had a healthy pregnancy but I hated every minute of it (I know that's bad to admit but it's the truth)
IVF #1 1/10-transfered 2 blasts- DS born 10/2010
March 2015- Chemical pg
1/25/16- BFP Beta1 12dpo = 17, Beta 2 14 dpo = 28.. resulted in one beautiful boy born 9/21/16
Now I'm a stay at home loving life and pursuing my love of photography!!!
I was one day shy of 42 weeks when I was induced. That was my choice and I had to fight my doctors tooth and nail to get them to let me go that long but I wanted to give my little one every chance to finish cooking and come out without help. After those long weeks, 3 inducing medications and 24 hours of hard labor - he hadn't budged form 0 station and we had to do a c-section.
What I don't get are all these people saying "it's their policy" and "they won't let you go longer then..." IT'S YOUR BODY AND YOUR BABY!!!! They can't tell you what to do!!! My doctor tried to tell me they wanted to induce at 40w3d but I told them to forget about it, I was going to 42 weeks unless there was something wrong with the baby. I was monitored closely and O's heartbeat strong throughout the entire ordeal, he just had no interest in joining us in the outside world.
Please, don't let your doctor dictate what happens to your body and your baby. You are in charge of you.

I had a scheduled induction for 41 weeks and 1 day that was a tuesday, luckily i went into labor on the sunday evening and had T the next night!! fwiw It was at Darnell i see your killeen and an army wife:) same here.
I hope they say something to your friend soon, she should really push them though!
Yes, Darnall was HORRIBLE to me. But that was me personally, especially since I was suppose to have Remy at home.
She's an Air Force wife in Alaska. So she is dealing with military hospitals also.
My hospital's policy is that unless it is medical necessity, they won't induce before 41 weeks. I was doing fine and the baby checked out great so I didn't want to be induced. It came down to working (12 hour shifts as a nurse) or being induced and I finally consented to induction at 10 days after my due date. I did not want to work and the docs had tried everything to get me started. I had my membranes stripped 3 times in 10 days and I did all the things I was supposed to do on my end with no progression.
To answer your question, they didn't bring it up until 41 weeks.
I went 41 weeks 5 days. I tried every OWT in the book but I don't think any of them caused labor. I had E at a birth center and they don't discuss induction until 42 weeks if your healthy.
GL to your friend, I was sooo frickin miserable those last couple of weeks!
Huh? The end of pregnancy sucks for everyone, but being uncomfortable isn't a reason for induction. And I say this as someone who didn't go into labor until 41 w 1 d with DS1 and 42 weeks with DS2. It sounds like your friend has a good provider who isn't rushing into induction, frankly.
To earlier posters - the rates of stillbirth don't "rise dramatically" after 41 or 42 weeks - it goes up, yes, but not in huge amounts.
DS2 - Oct 2010 (my VBAC baby!)
Honestly, it doesn't surprise me that they haven't discussed being induced yet, as they didn't discuss it with me until the day before it happened ... at 41w, 1d.
Hopefully all goes well for your friend for a quick and easy labour and delivery!
