News: GL to all our ladies in the 2ww! Congrats to Mek10976 on the birth of her baby boy! Welcome to new member Weezie825!

Updates: Last week, I had a not-great first midwife appt, but did get to see baby on ultrasound. Mrsmikey was also on the fence about doing the 17P shots, as well as figuring out extra monitoring. ijack had a minor freakout over lack of movement, but all is well and she's 19 weeks in! mrsfriend's final cervical length check went great and she's now a "normal" OB patient! *Sweet pea* is on to cycle 3 - GL! Mek10976 had her baby at full term! njkaren is 23 weeks and had her OB appt yesterday. Weezie825 joined our group and is thinking of TTC in the summer. lemen99 is the most pregnant she's ever been and had a GREAT cervical check! Clotho! is still avoiding pre-e, but just barely with elevated b/p and headaches - her doc is hoping to make it to 36 weeks.

  • I am doing MUCH better today. This past week was full of minor freak-outs (as evidenced by all the posts here about 17P, etc). Anyway, I had pretty much made up my mind to get a 2nd opinion with the OB who does my annuals (I go to them for annuals b/c they are much closer to my house - they happen to specialize in high risk pregnancies). So when I called to get the prenatal paperwork faxed over to set that up, one of the midwives called me back and discussed my history, what happened with DD, what we should do in this pregnancy, etc. at length. I think I'm in love, lol. She put me SO at ease, I wish I had seen her for my first appt. Basically, she said that for pPROM patients, they do recommend probiotics, so I'm going to pick those up tomorrow, along with some extra vitamin C. I told her my concerns with DD's fetal distress at birth and she thinks that there was an infection in my amniotic fluid which caused not only the pPROM, but also the fetal distress. She does not think the two are related, but she totally understood my fears that that will happen again, so she proposed weekly NSTs from 30 weeks on - music to me ears! If anything looks amiss, I'll go for a biophysical profile at that time. I also asked about the 17P shots and she didn't just shoot me down - she did some research, called their consulting physicians, and then called me back several hours later to tell me that none of what she found leads her to believe the shots would be helpful in my case. Which is all I wanted in the first place - a reason WHY we weren't doing them, and for them to be considered. She also said they can get me a referral to consult with their MFM at any time (which I will probably take her up on).

So I'm feeling much, much better about continuing my care where I am. I really think my first appt was just with a midwife who happens to be a bit too inexperienced to really know how to handle my particular case. Based on my last pregnancy, I really don't think that's the standard of care there, and I trust all the other MWs (and the inexperienced one doesn't do anything but the first couple of visits, anyway, no deliveries, so I shouldn't see her again). I also got my script for my first GTT....fun times. And I'm definitely feeling baby movement this week! I've gotten really good at finding baby on the doppler, too, and that's helping to keep me sane from day to day.

All good things! Sorry to write a novel :)

Congrats on your daughter! Are you thinking about TTC already?

Still nothing to report. My appt isn't until the 24th (seriously, 4 weeks is SO long to go between appts) so until then I just wait :)

  • Glad to hear everyone's updates!  I'm swimming along over here.  I'm down to double digits (YAY), but I have to admit, I'm getting a little anxious as time goes on about having this baby early.  I ended up getting the rest of my 17P injections filled this week so that I could get them at the compounding pharmacy before this Makena thing goes into effect.  I need 11 more injections and I'm really hoping that things keep going so well.  I'm hoping to step up the house stuff this weekend so I can get DS's big boy room done by the end of the month.  Once that is done, I can start working on the new baby stuff.  I've got to go through some towels, clothes, new baby stuff, etc., and get things ready for when this LO arrives.  I feel like I need to be prepared this time a month early...as I was not prepared at all when Parker came.  We had NOTHING ready.  I had just had my shower 4 days prior and everything was in bags/boxes.  Thank God for my in-laws who stayed with our dog and washed baby clothes, etc., or else we would've really, really been in trouble.  ...which makes me think that I need to get a plan together for when I go into labor.  It seems silly to be planning that so far in advance, but like I said...I'm getting a little anxious and I'm feeling like I need to get prepared just in case.  Ugh...the residual effects of giving birth premature...

OMG YES to all of this!!!! I want to be done, done ready to go, bags packed, carseat in the car before August. If this baby comes 6 weeks early, too, that puts us at the first week of August, so I really want everything wrapped up no later than the end of July.

  • Checking in late!

Not much new to report here.  I called the OB's office about the 17p shots and even though my OB and I haven't made a final decision about them, they went ahead and called in a prescription for me so I wouldn't have to deal with the new Makena prices.  I kinda feel guilty about doing that, since it hasn't been decided yet for sure that I need them, but I just felt like I had to do something with everything that was going on.  So now I figure since I have them I might as well take them, can't hurt anything.

So now I need to call back and get those appts scheduled b/c I'm supposed to start getting them at 16 weeks, but my next appt isn't until after 17 weeks.  Which doesn't make much sense to me anyway.  I'm supposed to be going every 4 weeks and I was last seen at 11 weeks.  Then I get seen again at 20 weeks.  So I think that 17 week appt is supposed to be at 16 weeks anyway.

I think I'm starting to feel a little movement, I've had a few different episodes where I'm pretty sure it was baby and not gas or anything else.  Haven't heard/seen the heartbeat since 7.5 weeks so feeling movement is an awesome reassurance!
