I got an unexpected day off today! I was leaving a shopping center around the corner from my office, when I got rear ended. I was at the stop sign to turn onto the main road. The woman who hit me claimed she was moving up to avoid being hit by the person behind her. It was incredibly low speed, maybe 5-10 mph. Anyway, my MW's policy is to have anybody who is in an auto accident come to L&D for monitoring. Since I was around the corner from my office, and about 45 minutes from my hospital, and had to pee, I stopped in there first. My boss was out of the office at a meeting, so I spoke with the senior project manager for my group. When I told him I was going to the hospital to be checked out, he said, "We have a water intrusion inspection that needs to be done this afternoon." SERIOUSLY? I told him if I was done being checked and allowed to work, I'd let him know. Thankfully my boss was much more reasonable when he got out of his meeting and called me (by which point, I was already in the hospital). So I get to the hospital around 10:30 and the hook me up to the monitors. They do some blood work, and send me for an ultrasound. And then I sat, well, layed there.....being monitored until 3:30. Thankfully, everything is okay. The u/s tech, after some pleading, looked at the baby's face and printed out an image for me. Technically the u/s was only of the placenta/cord. S/he has the CHUBBIEST little cheeks imaginable. I'm even more excited to meet him or her now. Also, the L&D nurse and my MW were both very entertained by Bumblebee's efforts to "run away" from the heart monitor. And Bumblebee got hiccups while I was being monitored......it was really weird to hear them, since normally I only feel them.

Re: L&D Visit/Car Accident
Yes I'm glad you and the baby are ok but how did the inspection go?
I'm kidding. I really am glad that everything is ok. What a swell project manager you have. Let's hope you don't ever have a big problem on his watch.
LOL....yea, I didn't leave the hospital until around 3:30. He isn't malicious, just clueless. He also didn't get why I had to leave a job site when I started having contractions at 24 weeks. He'll find out one day, when his wife is pregnant!
Glad to hear you're both OK!
