Okay ladies please share what the strangest thing you have done (whether it worked or not) to get your LO to calm down.
L loves the sound of running water. Not sure why but every time I am washing the dishes it puts her to sleep every time! It works great for when I'm taking a shower. Or doing the laundry bc I can put her in my Moby and she is out like a light!
Oh and she loves to have her little bottom spanked when we are getting ready for bed. Dunno why but it puts her to sleep all.the.time! haha. Shes a freak.
Now your turn!
Re: Strangest trick to get your LO to calm down?
Ha. I know what you mean. I was talking to my Pastor the other day while holding L in my arms and he gave me the strangest look bc I was patting her butt a little hard and I was like "don't worry she loves it!" He just laughed but yeah I feel ya.
We sit him on our leg and bounce our knee like we've got a nervous tick. We call it The Jackson because it reminds my husband of the anxious and uncomfortable way Michael Jackson was feeding Blanket in that horrible documentary a few years ago....
Bahaha I do this too and my BF thought I was nuts. I told her she's too embarrassed to cry when she's being mocked.
I'm glad my LO isn't the only one that likes this. When she's upset or sleepy, we hold her over our shoulder spank her toosh. She loves it and the harder the better. She just dozes right off and when you stop spanking her she will wake up or stop crying again. When my parents were here visiting the gave hubby and I the side eye for doing this but she loves it.
We "stand" her up. We hold her in the standing position with weight on her legs, and she gets excited and starts looking around and forgets why she's crying.
She also loves the hard pat on the butt for bedtime.

the hairdryer. Within seconds of turning it on, my daughter stops crying and is mesmerized. She usually falls asleep within minutes. Im nervous when I go back to work, I'm going to have to send her to daycare with her own hairdryer in her diaper bag.
At least she lets me get my hair done in the morning!!
This is for all the caterpillars that never became butterflies. And for all the butterflies that never felt the wind in their wings. And for all the hearts that had hopes and dreams of a wondrous flight together.
After he eats, he's uber gassy and has a hard time burping. I bounce him like he's in a Jumparoo with one hand holding him under his butt and the other on his chest. I bounce him 20 times facing the right and 20 times facing the left. He burps, without fail, between bounces 37 and 40.
Hank Williams (the first/Sr.). Yes, we're from Arkansas.
Most recently, change his diaper. Even if it's dry (well, when it's dry, I just lay him down and fake change it). Shuts him up every time.
LO was screaming his head off once so DH took him out to get the mail with him.
It was probably 40 degrees outside but he quit crying instantly. I think the cold on his face shocked him a bit.
Also he loves having us blow in his face. It drives my mom bonkers but L thinks it's hilarious.
