Washington Babies

I think I'm going to scream!!

So it must not be enough that my dog ran away last week, now my effing cat ran away!! I woke up this morning and the front door was open. All cats accounted for except one of mine =( My super cuddly fuzzy kitty. UGH!! I swear I am going to strangle anyone who crosses me today! Why can't my in-laws keep their house in order?!? They can afford to take their friends out for a $500 dinner several times, but they can't afford to have a door that closes reliably (and whose lock doesn't stick)?!!!!?? I just want my kitty to be here since he isn't chipped (at least I don't remember getting him chipped, though I probably did when I got him neutered)

  • Sorry your kitty ran off. Sounds like you guys really need to get your own place.

How far off is getting your own place? I can't imagine the stress of living with animals and a new baby with IL and then losing animals.

  • As far as I can tell, getting our own place is a long way off, especially with all the hospital stays and dr's visits I've had to have since R was born...

  • Oh no!  This is my single biggest fear any time our doors open or friends come over.  I'm sending you all the good thoughts I have that your kitty comes home very soon or that you find him easily!!!!  Hugs!!!  I would be terrified in your position. :-(  Maybe he's somewhere just outside, not sure what to do.

  • I am so sorry your dog and your kitty ran away - I do love my fur babies and I know my initial reaction, like yours, would be of anger.

I just have to step in here - and I realize you're having a bad day and I might be the one that gets strangled...

But you are living in your in-law's home.  It's their home - and they have the right to whatever priorities they set - expensive dinners or a door.  It's their home.  If they were living in your home, I might understand - but it's their home and they've being kind enough to let their adult children and grandchild live in it in order to help you guys out.

Just something to keep in mind....if you weren't living there, you might not have a place to live that was safe for your child.

I agree with this. I am sure you are just venting but you and your DH need to get your own place or not complain about stuff happening.

Maybe you could get a small 1 bedroom apartment for a year then save up enough to get something bigger.

  • Oh no!  I hope your kitty comes home very soon.
  • my vent about the door is not blaming them for what happened. They have animals they care about, too, and they have valuables. I am at my wits end, mostly because I have been very sick since R was born, have been fighting to keep bfing him, and have to listen to them telling me to just give up bfing and be yelled at if I leave anything of mine anywhere except our room.

I agree that we need to get our own place, but with all the medical bills I've gotten since R was born, that is a long way off. I have been talking to DH about getting a 1br apartment for almost a year now.

So, yes, I know that we are living in their house. But my cat, who is like my child, just ran away. And that is just one thing on top of many things that have happened in the past few months.

  • I'm sorry you're so sick and I'm sorry you've had such a rough time of it.  Having a new baby is a really, really stressful thing in the best of circumstances.
  • Oh no, I hope your little one is home safe soon.  Please let us know.  I have thought one of mine has gone missing before and it is truly terrifying.

Ugh, I'm so sorry.  You really have had a difficult time of it lately.  Big hugs to you and I will continue to send come home kitty vibes!

  • I am SO sorry to hear your pets have gone AWOL. I know how stressful that is, we lost my dog (she escaped from my friend's yard when we were visiting) for 11 days this summer and it was terrible. We did get her back though, so don't give up hope!
