Child Custody Laws in Maryland?

Anyone know? I tried googling the topic, and I didnt receive many results. I am due next Thursday..XBF wants a paternity test, I believe he will refuse to sign any Affidavit of Parentage unless the test is done. Someone mentioned to me of this paper isnt signed his name will not go on the BC. He wants a peternity test but he's making all this fuss about seeing my daughter and being around her on a daily basis. Why if you dont believe she's yours??? My question is what are my rights if he doesnt sign the paperwork? Technically he's not entitled to anything, correct?

  • Correct.  And once the paternity test is done on his dime he can petition to have his name on the BC...still doesn't give him custody or visitation rights.  He will have to file for those separately.  You can and should file for CS as soon as the child is born and once he is on the BC and the paternity test is completed the case will progress but CS will start accruing from the date you FILE.  Don't wait on that.

CS and custody/visitation are separate issues and don't impact each other.

Until a judge and CO tell you differently the child is yours and you don't have to let anyone see or take your child.

All jerks do the whole paternity test stuff.  It's a ploy...but you will have proof that he can NEVER throw it in your face that the child may not be his. (that hurts worse than having the swab done.)
