Convertible Car Seat Questions

We are now in the market for a convertible car seat or two.  I have a Jeep Liberty and the back seat is very small.

How do I go about finding one that fits?  If I go to BRU or Buy Buy Baby, do they let you try it in your car?  Or do you guess and make sure there is a good return policy?

Amazon has 20% off right now and I like the looks (and reviews) of the Britax Marathon.  Any experience with that or others?

Any buying tips or advice?

    i know babiesrus will let you try out a stroller in your car to make sure it fits, so i'm sure they would let you try out a car seat. 

    we have a fisher price voyager (exact same as britax marathon) and LOVE it.  i have a jeep cherokee and it fits great in the back seat though we've only ever used it in the middle seat.  we have used this one both FF and RF. 

    and we also have a cosco scerena for gpa's car (a CR-V) and it works great as well.  not as cushy but has great safety ratings, and for $39 its a great 2nd car seat if you need one for another car.

    We have Britax Marathon and love it. My oldest had that seat when she turned one and we just now gave it up only because my youngest outgrew her newborn seat, otherwise she would have stayed in the Marathon. It's very comfy, straps are easy to adjust and she enjoyed it. It is a little big so you may want to try it out. I of course loved it because of the safety reviews on it. We just moved her to the Britax Frontier so we're a Britax fan here. Albeebaby had a pretty decent sale going on too which is where we just bought the frontier.  Also check kohls, sometimes you can get them good there when they have the 30 percent off sale and earning kohls cash on top of that (if you have a kohls charge)

    I have a Britax Marathon and love it for my car. Of course, we just have the cheap Cosco Scenara for DH's car and J is just as happy in it (even for long trips as I discovered this weekend!).

    If your backseat is especially small, you might want to consider a smaller seat. We have the Britax Roundabout 50 in our Camry, because when we started looking at the dimensions, and reading reviews online, it seemed it (ETA: the Marathon) was going to be huge. We've been happy with the Roundabout 50. We also have a First Years True Fit in DH's '99 Honda CR-V, and we actually like that one even more.

    We ended up getting the Graco My Ride 65 for my 4 Door Honda Accord and the cheaper Cosco Scenera for DH's Tahoe.  I feel like I have a pretty small back seat and the Graco fits great.
