Random question, I know, especially since none of you have ever seen me! But I'm sitting here waiting for a developer at work to finish something so I can test and felt like seeking opinions. I have never had hair this long in my life - it is well down past my shoulder blades and it's kind of thicker and unruly because I haven't gotten it cut since well before Noah was born. All I do is wear it in a pony tail because A. I don't know what else to do with it and B. I don't have time to do anything else most days.
DH says he loves it and doesn't want me to get it cut - he has the typical male thing of loving long hair no matter what. I think I would look better with a shorter cut, which is what I have had more often than not in the past. I can take care of it better and I can at least manage to style it a little with a blowdryer and round brush. But I hate to disappoint him because he is so adamant that he loves my hair long.
I was thinking if I can find time for an appointment I could compromise and get it cut shorter, but not necessarily short - like maybe to my shoulders or just past that.
What do you think? How much would you weigh your DH's opinion on your own hair?

My thoughts too! I have very long hair.. down the middle of my back. But I worked with my hairstylist to grow it this long to make it easier for me to wear it - but it has style too. I have super curly hair & unless I have time in the morning to blow dry it straight it would look worse short. I don't have time right now. I never wear my hair up (well, okay today I wore a hat since I did not feel like washing it & it is raining out ; ) But sometimes you need to give your hair a break!

ITA, which is why my hair has stayed long. DH has given his opinion on my hair, I used to ignore it and come back with what I thought would look good and it turned out totally awful. He's pretty right on when he says why he thinks a certain style will or won't work.So I run a few ideas by him and take the ones that suit me the best to my stylist. And then she usually narrows it down from there. I haven't been disappointed when I listen to them both.
I always wore mine short (chin-length was as long as it got) until I met Rom. I knew he loved long hair, so I tried it. I actually like that I can leave the house in a ponytail or (more frequently) braids, it's so much easier than blowdrying and styling.
I have curly hair, mostly white, and it does get frizzy and poofy. I have long layers cut in, so I have a few options for styling when I wear it down. I love that I can straighten it, or do a classic, movie-star wave thing, or pull it up with little curly tendrils hanging down. You lose options with a short cut, I think.
Still, it's all about how you feel.

I always ask DH's opinion, but he REFUSES ti give it to me, which it probably a good thing.
I agree w/ pp that a trim will really shape it up. I also think BANGS do wonders for updating a look! Plus, they really look cute even if your hair is pulled back in a ponytail. Good luck!
I would go and get it cleaned up and see how you like it first. Not because of your DH, but because I hadn't been in a while and was 3 mo. PP and went in and the woman butchered me. If I had just had it cleaned up and had her create (well someone else, because she truly sucked) a style, I think I would have been happy. It is finally as long now as it was when I had her hack it off.
You can always go back in and get it cut shorter.....
