HI Ladies,
I am torn between buying a bedding set or just buying a crib skirt and sheets. I know you are not supposed to use bumpers, I plan on getting the breathable bumper but at the same time I cant help looking bc they are so cute. What are you planning on doing?
Re: To Buy or Not to Buy
I'm doing sheets and skirt. I will likely have something custom made simply because I can't find what I'm looking for.
The sets are definately fun to look at- but not sure if they are really worth it.

My mom bought the bedding and insisted on the bumpers. I put them in the crib for looks before DS came home but they have been in a plastic bag in his closet since we brought him home.
I use the crib skirt and got cute sheets.
We did this. I got a custom skirt made and bought sheets I liked. Do fun curtains and you will still gets lots of cute fabric in the nursery and won't miss the bumper.
After two losses, third time was a charm.

Also just sheets & skirt for me, along with a breathable bumper.
If you're a DIY'er, there are some really easy no-sew make-your-own crib skirt projects like this one: https://www.younghouselove.com/2010/03/nursery-progress-skirting-the-issue/. I'm going this route because the PBK/pre-made skirts don't reach the floor when the crib mattress is at the highest setting, and we're planning to use the space under the crib for storage as our apartment is pretty small.

We bought the set only because we got an awesome deal on it (plus, I wanted the quilt that came with it for decoration). However, I am not sure if we will use the bumper. I will probably put it on just for looks (since we have it, might as well us it) until we start putting LO in the crib, then I will switch to a breathable one.
We are going to buy the set. I plan on using the quilt as a wall hanging and I am hoping to take apart the bumper and sew the graphics on throw pillows for the chair and bed in that room, or I might frame that portion and use them as wall decor too. I couldn't find a matching crib skirt for the set I really liked, otherwise I would have gone that route.
Awesome!!! I am so doing this, thanks so much!!
With our first DS we bought the set and realized very quickly what a waste it was. For this baby we got just a sheet and crib skirt from PBK.
All separates.... I didn't like any of the crib sets and we saved a whole lot of money this way.
BTW, I recommend Target's Circo brand crib sheets....they have elastic all the way around and you can't beat the price, (they also fit very nicely on our Colgate Classica I mattress).
