Baby Gavin is here (induction birth story LONG)
So, it's been a while since I've been on but Baby Gavin was born on March 10 at 8pm. At 8.5 lbs and 22 inches long, he's a big boy!
We went to the dr. last Tuesday (39 week appt) and I told him I was starting to get some headaches. He was a bit concerned since my BP was creeping up a bit (never too high, I think 130 was the highest) so he suggested I go in Wednesday night for an induction to avoid Pre-E or Toxemia. It was so surreal!
We went to the hospital Wed. night, got the cervadil, took an ambien and went to bed. The next morning, I had an enema (GROSS but so glad I did) and then the dr. broke my water around 9 and started the pitocin around 10. Contractions got stronger around 2 and I got an epidural.
I started to feel kinda sick around 5 or so and my ear started ringing. I called the nurse (who was AMAZING), told her and then started to panic a bit. Before I knew it, I passed out only to wake up to the dr, anesthesiologist, and 2 nurses checking my vitals. I guess my BP got too low and my anxiety got the best of me. I have to say though,when I woke up, I felt great. It was like I had slept for a long time and had a burst of energy.
I knew around 6:00 or so that it was time to push and told the nurse. She checked me and I was fully dilated and she suggested I labor down for a bit so I wouldn't be pushing for too long. At 7:15 I started pushing and at 8:00pm on the dot DS was born!! DH was "estactic", it was so cute
I could go on and on but it wasn't as scary as I thought it would be and I am feeling much better from the tearing (2nd degree).
I'm thinking about all you March Mommies to be!

Thanks for sharing this! I'm probably getting induced in the next couple days due to pre-e and I'm terrified... I wanted a natural birth and am having trouble wrapping my head around this new reality. I'm glad to hear that your induction went so smoothly.. it gives me hope!
