Post Partum Hair Issues!

I've noticed in the last 5 or so months that my hair has started to get extremely oily.  I used to have normal hair and would shampoo it every other day.  Now if I don't shampoo it every day it looks like I took a bath in the greaser at McD's.  Seriously disgusting.  Is this normal?  Something that will go away eventually?  Anyone else dealing with oilier hair?  I don't know what to do with it!  It's gross!

Re: Post Partum Hair Issues!

  • Mine has been a hot mess! I don't know what is going on but it's flat and lifeless. I'm losing more in the shower too. Not loving that.

  • I've always had naturally oily hair.  Try a good dry shampoo.  They are a lifesaver some mornings.
  • When my daughter turned 4 months, I started losing my hair in the shower. It got so bad that I even clogged the drain! (oops!) I had really long hair and I was so upset cause I felt like I was going to go bald. I made a hair appointment and had my hair cut to mid-neck length and had it colored. Even though I still shed hair a little, it's nothing like it was. My hair feels healthier and much shinier. But now I have the little hairs that are growing back along my hair line. They are very frustrating! Stick out tongue

  • Hair issues are driving me nutz!  I have oily hair so I can't tell if it is worse or not but the hair loss is insane.  I thought I had avoided it but when DS was 3 months old it started falling out in the shower at an alarming level.  Now it is growing back but it is super thin on the sides and the little hairs on both sides of my forehead are sooo annoying!  I swear, it won't all get worked out until I end up preggers again!!
  • My hair changed around 3 months post partum. I started losing TONS of hair! It was everywhere! Horrible! It got so long during my pregnancy, I LOVED it and did not want to cut it but with baby beginning to grab things, I had no choice. Now, dandruff is my issue. I used to wash my hair every 2-3 days. Now, if I go 1 day without washing it, it's flat, dull with dandruff. So annoying! I'm trying out new shampoos. My hair stylist recommended a shampoo and conditioner that she sells but honestly, being a new mom, how does she think I am able to afford purchasing those expensive bottles?! Baby is growing which means more food! LOL
  • I also lost a ton of hair. Then MIL's butcher of a hair dresser cut off 6 inches when I only wanted 1/2 in trimmed off. I was devastated, as so much was already falling out. It was still past my shoulders but before she cut it it would touch my belly button =(

My dr put me back on prenatals to help with hair loss and to make it more healthy. Prenantals are the best womens vitamin you can possibly get. It has helped quite a bit. My hair is also dandruff-y recently, but if I use something moisturizing its makes it oily
