My Dr. doesn't tell me specifics of my internals

I had a growth u/s at 36 weeks and the mfm dr exclaimed that our lo was "way down there".

At 37 weeks I had an internal with my regular ob who just said there wasn't much going on.. same thing said at 38 weeks (different ob).

At 39 weeks, I was checked again and the ob said there wasn't much change. I asked if there was any change and he said "no".

From this I am assuming that I am long and closed and not effaced, right? I should have asked but I don't know if I even want to know the answer.

  • sounds that way, unfortunately.  The good news is, for a lot of people it means nothing  You can be dialated for weeks or go from 0 to 10 the same day!  Ask next time to ease your mind.  At least the Dr didn't seem too concerened, or recommend an induction yet (that you mentioned anyway)  GL!

  • You hit the nail on the head, you should have asked. If they aren't being clear then ask them questions! How effaced am I? Please explain "way down there".

You have to advocate for yourself and you can't blame the doctors if you aren't asking them detailed questions.
