f/u ultrasound not great

I had a follow-up ultrasound this morning because at my last the kidneys were dilated and different sizes.  The ultrasound showed both kidneys quite dilated, left more than right.  The midwife is still hopeful that it is nothing and will resolve itself, but wants to send me to a maternal fetal medicine specialist for a consult.  Not the news I wanted.  No other signs of issues, which is good.  I hope they can make the appointment soon.

  • Try to stay positive and make sure you go to a good perianotologist to get your follow up ultrasound. Also, ask the peri about local urologists so you can prepare for after the baby is born.  You may want to make sure you give birth at a bigger hospital that has pediatric specialists right there to do the appropriate tests when the baby is born.

    PM me if needed!

  • Try to stay positive :) Lots of times this corrects itself after birth. They will most likely order an ultrasound to look at baby's kidneys after he is born to check for pelviectasis while you are still at the hospital [where it will probably still show some reflux0 and then again 3 months or so later for comparison [hopefully cleared up].
