Do you make an appointment, or just show up?
We went last Sunday and test drove a bunch of cars, and want to go back in to finalize the deal. We haven't negotiated prices or applied for financing, so we will have to do all of that. Should we call/email the sales guy we were talking to in order to set up a time, or just show up?
Re: NBR: When you are buying a new car...
DH and I always just showed up. But, I would say if you liked the sales person you were working with then I would call them and let them know you are planning on coming back in. If you didnt, I would show up and hunt for someone else.
Just info: When we bought a new car a few months ago we went into the dealership and DH talked prices with them, then we left and went home and he then began negotiating prices over the internet with the dealership for the same car and got a better deal!
Just show up.
I just bought a subaru, if that is what you are buying, let me know and I might have some tips for you.
Ditto haggling in advance. Also *know* what you can get. If you search for some car sales message boards, you'll know what ppl can get for certain vehicles.
ie, DH and a relative bought the same make/model of a new car several years ago. DH paid $5K (?) less than said relative. He haggled over the internet/email. When the salesman he originally talked to didn't give him the price he knew he could get (by researching via the internet), he went to the dealership owner/mgr (not sure who).... all I know is that he got this particular car for a really good price compared to others.
Happy Buying!
