I just got a call from my endo saying that my TGB level is above normal, which usually would mean that the cancer could be coming back. She also said that since Im pregnant, the rise in estrogen could also be causing the high number. Obviously they can't do a CT scan because of the pregnancy, so I have to wait and retest in June, then again after the baby comes. Has anyone else dealt with this or know someone who has?
Re: Any other moms had thyroid cancer? I have a question
I had thyroid cancer in 2009, and my thyroglobulin levels were undetectable in back in January. I am, of course, always worried/thinking about it in the back of my mind. I did have to have my levoxyl adjusted right when I found out I was pregnant, and my endo ordered a neck ultrasound at the very beginning of my second trimester to monitor for cancer growth, which was all clear at the time. My OB said she would check it again in a few weeks, but I'm not scheduled to see my endo again until after the baby is born.
The good news is, you and your doctor are on top of this. Best of luck to you--hoping your numbers are back in a normal range the next time they get checked!
I knew someone who had to deal with the Thyroid CA when pregnant. They just wanted to treat her after she delivered. I had it back in 2000 but haven't had problems with the pregnancy. Did you have a total or partial thyroidectomy? I just know my levels are all wacked out and my Synthroid dosage is crazy high.
