I know that membrane stripping has been a pretty common topic on these boards, and I had been mentioning that I was going in at 37w5d to the OB to have the procedure done.
My husband and I got to our 4:30 appointment last Thursday and our OB again estimated that our little one was going to be a big baby. My husband and I had agreed to go through with having my membranes stripped after thorough research, and I was prepared for the pain and cramps that would come along with it.
What I wasn't prepared for was a sudden leaking feeling, and after informing my OB and having her look deeper, hearing her say, "Oh gosh... I think I broke your water." A few minutes of examination confirmed it; she had somehow broken my water while stripping my membranes. This is a completely rare occurrence, not something that is expected.
I'll be updating with our birth story, but Emily Alexandra was welcomed into the world on Friday, March 11th, 2011 at 4:25 pm (almost 24 hours after my water had broken!) weighing 6 pounds, 15 ounces, and 19 inches long. She is absolutely perfect in every way!
