So we had our one month check up today for DS. He gained two pounds since his last appointment and grew an inch! He is in the 50th percentile for weight and 75th percentile for height, and I could not be happier, especially since we are BF. All in all, he is doing well, and developmentally, he is right on track. However, the pedi and I had a talk today about his fussiness (over DS, because he surely SCREAMED from the minute we walked in until the minute we left), and how he only sleeps sometimes for less than two or three hours total during the day, and how he gets super over tired and fussy no matter what I do or how I try to put him down, and believe me, I feel like I try everything on a daily basis. Today I drove around in the car after the appointment for an hour just because he was sleeping in the carseat. Anyway, the pedi told me that he was nursing too much (he sometimes nurses up to 15 times per day between 10a-11p). The pedi said, after talking about his reflux and upping his dosage to reflect his current weight, that if I do everything and DS is still inconsolable like he was in the office today, that I should either a) give him a bottle filled with water or b) put him in his swing/bassinet/whatever and walk away for 5-10 minutes to do something else- he suggested showering or something to give me a bit of peace. I don't know if I can do either of those. I feel weird giving him water, and besides even when DH gives DS EBM from a bottle, he isn't satisfied or sleepy, he wants the comfort of nursing. I also can't handle DS crying and not at least trying to do something about it, which is probably why he nurses so much, because only nursing or being in the carseat in the car ONLY when it is moving (he cries when I stop, like at the pharmacy drive through or at long stop lights) makes him sleep. But I can't do either of those for 10+ hours per day because my boobs are going to fall off from overuse or I will go into debt from all the money I spend on gas for the car. Thankfully, DH was somehow able to get him to sleep right now and they are cuddling on the couch. I think my realistic goal, after talking to the pedi, is to try to at least get him to go an hour and a half between feeding him. That way, he can still get all he needs and I don't have so much pain (because of course I'm still getting over the mastitis as well, which makes it so much more pleasant when DS wants the boob every half hour!). Any other ideas? Sorry for the long vent, I'm just tired and a bit weary.

Re: One month checkup, long, please give me your advice!
When I google meds for colic it came up with simethicone in it...which is pretty much gas drops like Mylicon(we use those sometimes). It also talked about probiotics, gripe water, and reflux meds.
Does he take a pacifier? You could try that if you haven't. I give props to you for letting him nurse every 30 mins! I would go insane!
I don't know about the water thing...sounds like he is nursing mainly for comfort at this point. I suppose you could try it, but I dont think one bottle of water a day would do anything since he wants to nurse for frequently and any more then that he is just filling up on empty calories. LO just loves his mama!
