Feeling so much anxiety

I'm dreading tonight... Last night with DS was so bad.  He didn't go to sleep until 3 am.. and for most the night he was just fussy, but for a decent very hard part he was crying so badly.  It got to a point that it woke up DH (who was in the living room sleeping) and he came in and got DS and saw we were both just crying.  I know DS was having some gas issues and seems so much better today, but I can't help but be terrified about tonight...

I kinda feel like I have had anxiety about everything.  It was really bad when I first got home with DS and has gotten better... but still there.  Is anyone else feeling this too?

Come on Sticky baby!!

Re: Feeling so much anxiety

  • DD had a terrible fussy day last Saturday and I can't help but feel anxiety every time she gets a little fussy now, because I think "OMG, is this going to happen again?!"

I think it's natural - we're programmed to feel anxious when our babies cry, it's nature. And no one likes to listen to a crying baby that they can't soothe.

  • We had a bad night last night too - we could not get LO to sleep for the life of us.  I think I got 2 hours of sleep and there also was a point when we both were crying.  I have to look back at where we were when we first got back from the hospital to see how far we have come and how much better it is now.  It's only going to get easier from here.  I also feel like every night that is difficult I can manage to learn something from it to help us in the future.  I hope you have a better night tonight.
  • I totally understand. I think nuggy is going through a growth spurt and has been screaming all day.

  • I've had 2 nights like this so far.  He would sleep for about an hour and then be awake all night long with screaming and fussiness.  I would end up BF him and dripping tears all over him!  Yesterday, I woke him in the evening to feed him every 2 hours and change his diaper.  I wasn't able to keep him awake for very long, but last night was a great night.  I also started swaddling him tighter.  He fusses and tries to get out for about 2 minutes, but then sleeps so much sounder. But, I feel your pain and dread another night like that :(
