Bad news (NBR)

DH works for a local company who are HQ'd in WC.  We heard today that negotiations will start and end in April for the new contract.  If a new agreement is not made by the end of April then the company are going to lockout it's workers again.  The contract isn't up until late summer, the company are again trying to bully and honestly I can not see what else they can possibly take away.  We already pay enough in insurance premiums and OOP every year we may as well not have insurance and DH's 401K isn't worth snot.  DH has said if it goes to lockout again he is out, he's either going to find another job or go back to school.  Either way it is going to be a big year of changes, personally I HATE the company he works for but that's a story for another day.  Hoping the year goes a lot smoother than 2006 did.

  • I'm 99% sure I know what company you are talking about. Our cousin left in 2006 and decided to not go back. He ended up finding a good job and went back to school. That place really seems awful. Good luck with what you decide.

  • Just want to wish you good luck.  My DH is going through something similar and it is certainly stressful.  I'll keep you in my T&P.

  • Sorry for the stress. That's no fun at all.

ETA: Now I'm dying to know the company.

  • I'm pretty sure my DH works at the same place as your DH, but not for the same company (he works for one of the electrical contractors).  It's going to suck big time if they lock them out again.  I was unaware that any of it was going on again but will be sure to ask DH about it when he gets home.

  • curlypie1 - Your cousin was smart to get out.

shyntrue - Sorry to hear about that and  I will keep you guys in our prayers also.

Ttimes3 - It was one of the largest employers in Butler County, they locked out over 3000 employess in 2006.

Megs&Nick - My husband works with High Voltage I bet you I could name the company your husband works for.  And it' has been pretty much verified from several official sources today :( which means pray that negotiations go well or else :(:(

Miller238 - Having lived through the last lockout I am REALLY REALLY dreading it if it happens again.

DH and I are still trying to remain optimistic and discussing what we want to do if it does happen.  It could mean a lot of changes and with 3 kids 2 of which are under 5 this time I know things are going to be rough.  I am praying for peace and to be able to handle it as calmly as possible.

Thank You for your thoughts ladies.
