  It doesn't matter. Most people wont know they are derived from John or that they both have the same meaning. Even if they did it's not a big deal. (BTW ... I love the name Evan Shane)

  Don't worry about it. I highly doubt anyone will ever know (I guess you could always have the occasional etymologist in your family; my uncle was annoyed that his sister named her daughters Natalie and Natasha, which are the exact same name, but no one else noticed).

  I wouldn't do it just because it would really bother me knowing that they are derived from the same name/meaning.

  If it doesn't bother you though, then go for it.
