still working?

i'm at work. my temp is already at my desk and handling the day-to-day. i'm just going some clean up and other projects, but i'm so bored and have no motivation. i plan to work until i go into labor or the doc tells me i need to stop so i need to find some motivation!

i can't imagine being home though, i think i'd go crazy with the waiting.

anyone else still working?

Re: still working?

  • I am...and I'm miserable.  I shouldn't say miserable....more tired and bored...I just want to be at home curled up in bed.

  • My last day was march 10, the doc pulled me out.  Im an accountant and this time of year is stressfrul, so she thought best if I stayed home till birth.   Its soo different being home and waiting, but the rest is great:)

  • I'm in the same boat.  I have been training a temp who will be working at my desk for the next 3 months and am miserable.  Can't wait for Friday- my last day!!  I agree with pp that getting dressed and having to look nice is the worst part right now.  Plus it's 80 degrees here today and I have no warm weather maternity clothes.  Come on lo!!

  • I'm still working, but I work from home so I'll be working right up until I go into labor.  I'm so thankful I don't have to dress up!  I'm sitting here in old yoga pants and a non maternity T-shirt and my belly is hanging out the bottom!

Lol that's what I wear to dance. I caught a little girl looking at my belly in horror. I've started wearing my be-band to hide my stomach.

  • I'm 38.5 weeks and this week is my Spring Break.  I keep thinking-do I want to go back next week and do what you're doing? *sigh*

    Good luck to you!

  • Yes! I would love to be done. For some reason tho this question pisses me off so much when people ask! Of course I'm still working, I'm pregnant not dying! Yes it's hard to do my job and it sucks, but I don't have the luxury of just stopping and using up time off to sit at home. I don't know why this irks me so but it does! haha good luck to us all!

  • Friday was my last day. Im a nurse and the 12-hour days were starting to wear on me. Im planning on a natural birth and couldnt imagine going into labor exhausted.

however, I forget so quickly how exhausting work can be and now that im sitting at home and I kinda wish I was at work. There's things for me to do here tho'. I have yet to pack my bag for the hospital....thats the procrastinating side of me.

  • I am, but I work from home.  Recently though I've been telling anyone who might be able to help that I'm declining fast (especially because I've been congested for 3 weeks and unable to sleep), and need to be replaced ASAP.  It should be such an easy job, but at this point I'm so out of it mentally and physically, even keeping up with emails seems overwhelming.  :(

  • Im still working :) I work retail though so i dont get to sit down too much witch sucks but hey i'd rather be at work than home i'd go crazy being home all the time before she gets here. i just had to tell my manager i need to do half days though working 9 hours on your puffy swollen feet sucks uber hard, expecally with children >.<

Everything bold is me!  I worked all the way up to my due date and it was exhausting, and now I'm past due, sitting at home and thinking how I wish the time was going by faster - I should have worked just one more day.  Although, I think if I'd have gone in to work today, I would be kicking myself since I'm sure everyone would be making comments such as "you're still here?!" etc.

  • Everyday that I showed up to work last week i got the "what are you doing here??"

  • i think i'll still work my 40th week if LO hasn't come by then, but will stop by 41 weeks. hmmm. again, just don't want to waste too much leave time before the baby is here.
  • Me!  I'm working until the baby comes - they're joking that I'm going to have the baby at the office, but in reality it won't happen that fast (first time baby).  They don't mind though - I work at a company that's very natural/healthy/organic so no one has a problem with me working up until the end.  Plus, I just sit at a desk all day, so it's no problem.  Finding clothing to wear - especially now that it's getting warmer - is the challenge.  And to be honest, aside from the fact that we need the income, I'd be bored out of my mind if I was just sitting at home!
  • I'm still working too, due 3/25. I have projects at work that require me (no one has the skills to back-fill) so I'm trying to give them as much time as possible. I'm working from home full-time starting tomorrow because my desk is just too uncomfortable. I've been on half days at the office, half days at home for the last 6 weeks or so because of contractions. I would also go crazy not working, although now that I officially have no restrictions, I could go nuts cleaning and organizing!
  • Today was my last day...  working on patients today was almost unbearable.

  • I'm still working, but I've switched to half days and I always work from home.  It's hard to actually focus on work instead of all the stuff that needs to get done around the house.  I'm pretty sure I'd be miserable if I had to go into an office, though, so I shouldn't complain.

  • I'm in the exact same boat as you. I am still working and the temp has been trained for 2 weeks which is leaving me very board at work but I need to work up until I deliver because of time off issues.

I hope this baby decides to make his appearance very soon!! Good luck to you.
