re: bathing suit post the other day

I tried this swimsuit on yesterday: https://www.6pm.com/juicy-couture-y69451-shirred-halter-swimdress-black. It's super adorable and seems like it will fit lots of body styles. Unfortunately, the only color they had at the store was yellow and it's just not a good color for me. I think I'm going to buy this one in black. They had it at TJMaxx for $49. I saw that several people liked that style so I thought I'd share.

  • Hmmm. Between my saggy, stretch marked boobs and my butt/thighs being the largest part of my body, I'm thinking this would be the worst possible choice for me. BUT, being a glutton for punishment, I may have to check it out :-)

  • I saw someone wearing it at the gym pool the other day.  it looked great on her, except she totally could have looked great in any bathing suit, IMO.  Unfortunately for me, I'm not sure if would cover enough thigh.  =(

OH I love that! I really like the retro style and Ibe been wanting to get a 1 piece for a while. We have a few pool parties with my churc each summer and I always feel so weird wearing my bikini.
  • That is cute, but yellow would be a no go for me too.

  • You can also get an identical version from Land's End.

I tried it on last year and it was gorgeous, but my upper thighs looks ridiculous and the ruffles draw your eye right there.

  • It's cute and I think the shirring would be helpful to hide some stomach issues, but I think you also have to be busty and have long skinny legs to look good in it.  If you're somewhat pear shaped it could really emphasize that and the hem cuts you off at the widest part of the thigh.  I was tempted for a moment because it's a good price, but then when I thought of all my problem areas, it's probably not a good suit for me. I think the only flattering suit on me would consist of board shorts and an oversized tee.  My bod sucks. :(
  • I have no boobs any more...basically size b boobs in f sized skin, it's real pretty. :) My thighs aren't so great, either.

Hmm, maybe it would be more flattering than the picture suggests if you liked it in person.  I expect DS to wean soon, so by this summer I should be back to my saggy A/Bs, along with my childbearing hips.  I hate swimsuits!

  • I have a picture on my phone I took in the dressing room (to text DH so he could help me pick one out!). I'm debating on if I'm brave enough to PIP it or not.
  • I have a version of that suit-- with a strapless top (with an attachable spaghetti strap) instead of the halter.  I have it in turquoise/royal blue.  I love it.  Very flattering/forgiving on a not-so-all-that-figure.  Also the ruffle/overskirt of it can be adjusted, so that you can pull it down a little longer or shir it up a bit higher, so that you can find a "spot" for the ruffle to hit that's more flattering for you.

Do it!  I'd love to see what it looks like on a real body.

    Be kind to me!

  • It looks good! Not like a pear at all. :) I like your hair too.
