Preemies

Cough..should I be concerned?

Morgan has a tiny bit of a cough (well it seems like a big cough for her)...I don't know if I should be concerned since she's still so little.  I remember the neonatologist saying that a lot of preemies end up at children's in DC because of RSV.

And that's sitting in my head, on repeat.

Ugh!

Re: Cough..should I be concerned?

  • It doesn't hurt to call the doc. If it starts interupting her sleep or it seems like she's in pain or she develops a fever I'd push to have her seen. My ds has a cough a few weeks ago and developed a high fever. It turned out to brochiolitis. You can never be too careful especially if she had any respiratory issues.

  • The doctor told me the same thing about RSV which is why I was very concerned when my LO came down with a cough/runny nose last week.  I took him in to see the pediatrician, they swabbed his nose and 10 minutes later determined he was negative for RSV.  It's a very quick and easy test and will give you peace of mind.  Good luck!
