Hi everyone. I just had my 2nd baby on Thursday morning. Her name is Elizabeth Cesarina. She joined my 18 month old Alexander. We feel really blessed to have two beautiful children. I am excited about this board because I feel like I will get some great support from the ladies here. If anyone has any advise to get through the next couple weeks that would be great. My DH goes back to work tomorrow and I have anxiety about that but thankfully I have a great family. Mostly I get worried about my DS and shortchanging him in some way. Any advise would be great! thanks!
Re: intro
Hi and welcome!
The thing I did to survive those first few weeks were to involve LO #1 (DS) in everything I did with LO #2 (DD). I would feed the baby in the rocking chair or on the floor so I could be playing/interacting with DS at the same time. If he wanted to be held and read to while I was feeding DD, I would put him on my lap in the rocker and I'd read him a book, let him help me burp the baby, etc. I'd keep everything I needed close by me so I wasnt dealing with 2 fussy babies-diapers and wipes to change both of them, snacks for DS if he got hungry while I was feeding the baby, sippy cups of water for him, etc.
Another tip that helped was to prep things when DS napped. DS always wakes up from his nap hungry, so I'd prep his lunch before he woke. Inevitably, when DS wakes up from a nap, DD wants to eat at the same time, so if I have everything prepped for DS's meal, I'm not dealing with 2 screaming babies at the same time. I get DS's meal, put it in his high chair, and sit next to him while feeding DD.
Good luck and enjoy!
