This has probably been posted before... But I just saw this show this weekend and WTF?!? I had heard about it and thought it was just a one time special or something, not a weekly series with like 3 of these women per episode!
Is this for real? I just canNOT fathom how these girls can
a)barely gain any weight through their entire pregnancy and not have visible baby bumps
b)not feel the baby moving around inside of them
c)not think its weird not to get AF for 9 months!
Has anyone else seen this show?
ETA: Reworded after thinking about it... Also, I did not mean going 3,4,5 months without knowing. I was referring to going 9 months w/o knowing until giving brith. I've never been pregnant, but from what from other people have said below, can now see that this is possible if not getting regular check ups.
Again, did not mean to offend by this post, it was just shocking to me...
Re: Didn't Know I was Preg
I would hardly call them idiots. It happens.
And I'm guessing you know every intimate detail of their stories well enough to personally certify that they're all idiots?
And you are.....?

I've skipped quite a few months at a time before. I eventually went on the Pill to regulate that, but before then it was my norm and I just never really thought about it one way or another. My tendency to have obnoxiously long cycles is only starting to become annoying now that I'm TTC.
This has happened to my sister in laws sister and she was pregnant with TWINS. She told me this story and i had my mouth open the whole time. She is a little on the heavy side so her weight gain wasnt a sign. She had pain on one side and on her back and was still bleeding every month but it was a shorter period. she was 40 at the time so she thought she was starting menopause.
No morning sickness or movement- she was in so much pain on her side and rushed to the hospital - that's when she found out that she was i think 6 or 8 months pregnant. - Unfortunatley both babies didn't make it!
I'm just sharing what i was told- who knows how true this story is.
Yeah apparently it does happen more often than you would think.
I admit it seems kind of bizarre to me but if you always had irregular periods and your weight always fluctuated, then it makes more sense.
I also think for many of these women pregnancy is just so far down the list of what it could be....like they know they may be gaining weight, and they may feel "gassy" (or what they think is gas or other abdominal pain), and they know they haven't gotten their period in a while....but they could attribute the symptoms to many other things, and pregnancy would be at the bottom of the list. so their mind just doesn't go there, kwim?
I agree....it does seem crazy that a woman could go 9 months without realizing she's pregnant....but obviously it happens (and to more than a few women)!

That's funny, because in all of the episodes I've seen, there was always some medical emergency that preceded them finding out. At any rate, it isn't worth beating you up about it.
It just floored me because of how unfair it is to the babies not getting the proper care that they need. I know that it does happen, and that they may have medical conditions, but I just think that if you are having sex, and are not getting your period-esp. if you have a medical condition you should go to the doctor. Because they didn't know (in the episode i saw-not speaking for everyone this has happened to) they were not taking proper care of themselves-drinking, smoking, and no prenatal care for the babies.

Well yeah, it's not fair, but if you don't know, you can't help it.
stinkin work computer....doubt post and didn't post my reply...ugh!! I was going to say...I understand many women not batting an eye at missing AF for nine months...but I seriously looked like I was smuggling watermelons when I was pregnant. I have a friend who has irregular cycles, was always told she could not have children ( I believe she has severe endometriosis) and is a bit on the heavier side. She found out she was pregnant at 4/5 mons. She thought she had a tumor!!! She knew something wasnt right with her body.

The daughter of someone that I work with was one of those who didn't know she was pg until she was in labor. I saw pictures of her in her Homecoming dress not too long before she delivered and I wouldn't have known she was pg. I've had a baby and cannot imagine not feeling the baby move at all! Mine never stopped moving! lol
THAT'S RIGHT! I forgot about that!!!
BTW, you were the hottest pregnant lady I had ever seen.
I have seen this. Most of them are not idiots. There are the few who never used protection during sex and ignored some of the pregnancy symptoms, but overall it's just a quirk of biology.
really irregular periods + not 100% effective BC = possibility
My friend's mother was one of those cases. She had PCOS. She was told she would likely never conceive. She had maybe 1 -2 periods a year. She was married and a little plump, but never too overweight. She was over 6 months along before a routine medical exam told her she was pregnant with my friend. No morning sickness. No obvious mood swings or classic pregnancy symptoms. It's too easy to write off some general fatigue and constipation!

Ok, points taken. I wasn't talking about someone that goes 5-6 months without knowing and then goes to the doctor and finds out they are pregnant. I meant who going nine months and go into labor without knowing.
I now realize that it may be much more common than I thought previously, I've just never known anyone that this has happened to and even though I've never been pregnant myself, I guess I assumed that you would feel the baby moving when you're farther along and know that something wasn't right with your body.
Again, I'm sorry if this offended anyone, it wasn't my intention.
Yeah right!! But thanks!!

I have an "idiot" friend (sheesh) who this happened to recently. Had a vitamin deficiency which made her gain weight through her midsection. Her "bloat" was minimal and her daughter was positioned toward her back. While people speculated, she didnt think it was possible as she had multiple tests run my her doctor as well as her cycle every month. It happens, and she isnt an idiot.
ETA: I appreciate your apology (just as a friend), I see now it wasnt intentional.
I mean I think it happens. I was about 7 weeks pregnant and would not have known it for a while. I got my period, full blown period. And the ONLY way I knew was when I went to get back on BC pills and they told me I was already pregnant.
I lost that baby...but I can see how it could happen.
