We've already decided on our boy name and are just starting to agree on a few girl names. DH and I like Harlixton - which is my granfather's middle name, after the town in England where his parents met.
I think it sounds pretty own its own. DH likes the nn Harli, I like Lexy. I like it without a nn, too.
What do you ladies think? Is Harlixton going to get laughed off of the playground?
Re: Harlixton - Good, Bad or Ugly?
I'm sorry, it's both bad and ugly.
If you like the names Harley and Lexi, why not use one of them instead?
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

I'm sorry, but it's awful.
Haha - no need to be sorry, ladies. I came to this board for an honest reaction and I got one. I'd rather hear it now than when I find out my kid hates me for it.
Thanks. Off the list.

From how I read this post, you said you already have a boys name and are looking for a girl name, correct?
I don't like it. If you really want to use it though, I would suggest to use it as a MN for a boy. It is just too harsh for a girl, IMO.

I totally agree!
i'm glad everyone was able to persuade you to NOT use this name!
it's bad.
I agree the first thing I thought was harlot (just finished reading Julius Caesar, so it is fresh in my mind).

I really love the family significance. Points for that. And it's a real name too, so double points.
However, when I just read the name, I thought "oh lord, this woman made up a name and added a random X and her poor child is going to have to go through life with a made up stripper name on her resume." Which is unfair but the reality is human beings are really judgmental creatures. I mean, if you love it you love it, but in that case I'd pick a well-known, easily-spelled and pronounced middle name she can go by if she chooses.
This.

It makes me think of Harlot before Lexi. Not good.
