Babies: 3 - 6 Months

So I'm kicking my husband out of the house

...and trading him for his mother. Weird, right?

He came home sick from work again. This is seriously the 4th or 5th cold in our house in the past couple of months. Instead of risking Charlie getting sick for the 4th or 5th time, I'm sending him to his mother's (she lives about 15 min away) and she's coming over here.

I'm one of the rare few that gets along really well with my MIL so it's a good plan for us. I just wish this cold season would finish already. Anybody else have non-stop colds at their house?

  • Hey I love my MIL also and we go there quite a bit!  We were the germ infested house all through January - February, then suddenly we woke up one day feeling great and realizing that Noelle was 4 months old.  Crazy.

I hope you all start feeling better - its no fun is it.

  • Awesome you can do that! I get along with my MIL well but not well enough for an arrangement like that. Don't even get along with my own mother well enough for that!

We are lucky that both DH and I have insanely good immune systems and almost never get sick. Hoping genetics and BF will help LO be the same.

Hope Charlie remains well and that your DH gets better fast!

Oddly, I don't think I could do it with my own mother! My MIL is way more laid back so she's easier to live with (in some respects. She bugs me sometimes, don't get me wrong!)

You're so lucky you haven't gotten sick! That's awesome. Thanks for the good wishes!

  • Man, beccs I was feeling all sad and was getting ready to type out a long-omgsosorry-post and you tricked me.

I get along with my MIL too (although she does say some crazy things, I have learned to ignore them)

Hope your H feels better soon!

Haha, sorry I psyched you out! I was thinking of putting a disclaimer like "(for now") in the subject but I thought it would get cut off anyway!

Oh my MIL is super crazy about some subjects (and they happen to be political topics that I disagree with her on) but we just avoid those topics if possible.

Thanks! He's upstairs sleeping at the moment.

Rah: Thanks! I hope your house stays healthy. Your little girl is adorable!

  • DH and I have both only been sick once, but they were month long colds. Luckily Luke didn't get sick.

My MIL lives 500 miles away, and that's STILL too close.

Haha... this made me LOL. I don't know how to avoid the baby getting sick if I am because we bedshare and I'm holding him all day long. That's why I'm just steering clear of my husband for now.

I am dead serious about it too. lol

I don't know how DS didn't get sick. We were both sick at the same time, he just didn't catch it. We were really lucky.

  • Yes. I went back to work after my 3 months of mat leave on March 1st. Of course three days before, I came down with a cold. That cold then morphed into bronchitis, pneumonia, and strep throat. Today is the first day in almost two weeks (I lost my voice the day after I started back at work) I've been able to talk. DD got the cold on Thursday and is still coughing and sneezing, and now my DH is coming down with it. It was a cacophony of coughing at our house yesterday, that's for sure.

    Oh, FFS.
