Podee vs. Pacifeeder

Has anyone used either one of these? Which one seems to work the best?

Re: Podee vs. Pacifeeder

  • You shouldn't use either of these items. Bottle-propers (like the Podee) can cause an infant to choke on the liquid in the bottle, and that Pacifeeder thing is basically just laziness incarnate. Yes, I said it.

There is no reason to use either of these items.

Oh, get off your high horse. No it's not ideal, but yes there can be reasons to use these (ask anyone on the Multiples board), and there are ways to do it responsibly. You should be in view and ideally within arm's reach of your baby if you are using a bottle propper in case they start to choke.

OP, I've heard a lot of recommendations for the Podee, but haven't heard of the Pacifeeder. I haven't used either one myself -- I'm using a rolled-up burp cloth to hold the bottle at the right angle when I need to burp or reposition the second baby.

For the record, she doesn't have multiples.

The Pacifeeder works the opposite way of any natural feeding method for baby, (BF or regular bottle) because it forces the baby to use the nipple as a straw and suck the milk up through the tube. This causes a LOT of unnecessary air intake and gas pains.

Ask yourself this; if these bottle-proper things are such a saving grace for someone who has to feed multiple babies at one time, how come hospitals and day care centers don't use them?

Hospitals and day care centers have more then one person working.  I've worked in a day care that took 6 mo old babies, they are required to have a certain amount of workers depending on the amount of kids, and the age of the kids...it varies state to state.

Of course they have more than one person working, but they still need to feed multiple babies per person, get it? It's not a 1:1 ratio.

Yeah, I get it, you don't have to be such a b!tch about it though.  Just another reason I find you to be one of the most annoying people on thebump. No ones offering to feed your kid with the thing. She asked a question, if the things were so dangerous they would be recalled with all the other things that have caused a sudden panic.

Not all the kids eat at the same time so 3 people for 10 babies is no sweat.  Multiples tend to be on a very similar schedule and one person with 2 or more could use the hand.

I wasn't being a *** at all, I was clarifying what I said because of (what seemed to be) an irrelevant response from *you*. There are plenty of baby items out there that aren't recalled, but aren't necessarily the best items out there. She asked a question about comparing these two things, so I gave her an answer. Why that bothers you so much, I have no idea, and don't actually care.

One of the most annoying people on the bump? Really? That's a riot considering I rarely ruffle anyone's feathers... except yours apparently.

Oh well, I'm over it. Have a great one.

Agree to disagree.  My mouth waters when I see posts from you, most of the time.  You know, like that watery feeling that creeps up your throat right before you vomit?

THIS is hilarious because I've only actually created 8 posts in over a week. Yeah I'm a post whore for sure.  You get the eyeroll of the century for THAT gem of an observation.

Not the eyeroll of the century!! NOO!!!

I don't care how many you've started, you're irritating (clearly to more than just me) and you comment all over the place, a LOT.  I don't check your numbers (so thanks for keeping track), I just know that I cringe when I see ANOTHER RubineLime reply/post littering the boards.

So I get called out for responding to posts with actual answers, but I've not ever seen you post ANYTHING other than some nonsense bytching about other people's posts. And I'm the PW. Yah.

Actually, that's not true at all. It just appears that most of us either choose to ignore you or don't have all day to post like you do. *shrug*

  • I have been using the Podee since my son was 5 months old (Now 8.5 months) because he refused to hold his bottle and he also refused to eat his bottle at one time.  At first I loved it so much I ordered 3 more sets for a total of 8 bottles.  I do still love it but I will say that it is annoying to keep clean, the nipple leaks, and the top also leaks after a significant amount of use.  I hate how much it leaks and how messy it has become but love how convenient it is.  As for the people who have not tried it...I probably would not advise on something you haven't tried for yourself.  It is safe as I have not had any problems with the safety of it.  He has not spit up since using it (and from the time he was born had projectile vomit with all other bottles and I have tried them ALL).  He no longer really burps (he does on occasion but rarely) and he never spits up anymore.  He feeds himself and stops when he is full.  I find this to be the closest thing to breastfeeding since I stopped when he was 6 months.  I absolutely LOVE the idea of it just wish it did not have all of the leaking issues that I have come across.  I am now trying to figure out how to fix this issue because I cannot imagine going back to a regular bottle but I also hate cleaning up the mess this leaves :(  Hope this helps!
