Need advice on gliders

Hi - I'm a regular on the PgAL board and am not sure where to post this question, but here seemed like a good start....

DH and I are considering a Dutalier glider.  My father called after he saw it in the store to say we should really reconsider the glider because he didn't think it was safe with all the exposed moving parts, thinking that when we have baby #2 & hopefully #3 that our first baby will be possibly roaming around the base of the rocker while I'm in it rocking in it and will get his/her hands jammed. (Presumably when #2 comes along #1 will be crawling or even walking).  I guess I figured that if a child was hanging around the base of the rocker, if I'm doing my job as a parent, they wouldn't have the chance to lose or break a finger because I'd be watching them, but maybe I'm being naive about that.

So for those of you with a couple LO's and a glider, have you had any safety issues or concerns, or can you make any recommendations about rockers?

    I don't have number 2 yet, but I have a glider in DDs room and she is crawling around and never goes near the base.
