So, I was in a severe car accident in 2009. Long story short- I quit heavy doses of oxycontin and oxycodone by pure will before I got pregnant. So currently I have been suffering a cervical sprain and it's a recurring one. Seems like anything I do causes it to happen again

Since about December of 2010 my OB has prescribed me Tylenol 3's for pain. I guess I thought if the doctor prescribed something he would know if it were ok or not...?
Well, stupid me because after a comment by a friend who's in nursing school, I ran an internet search and all this stuff popped up about withdraw symptoms, CPS involvement, OMG- it's a freakin' nightmare the things I'm reading!
What exactly is the deal here? I want to talk to my OB NOW but it's Sunday and a different doctor is on call.
I know full well the withdraw of oxycontin, as I went through it. But withdraw from Tylenol 3?? I am really freaking out here. Does anyone know anything about the medical and legal implications of this?
As soon as I read I stopped taking any of the medicine, but I'm still worried!!

Re: Worried, Need Advice/Info
I would talk to your OB tomorrow but also breathe...I know it's not easy and I am not in your position but I've freaked myself out a lot by reading stuff on the net...they always talk about the worse case scenarios.
I am sorry you are going through this and I hope all is well. T&P's coming your way. Keep us posted!
I wish I knew but I have no ided. I agree with Bun, though. The internet is a scary place. It never really makes me feel better. Talk to your doctor and assume that they made the safest decision for you.
I have been on Tylenol 3 for the last 2 weeks. I take 4 tablets/day for hydronephrosis. I have grilled my OB with questions and she has reassured me that in this low dose, my little nugget will be just fine. I am a Nurse Practitioner and I have seen plenty of moms take percocet for kidney stones and their little ones come out just fine.
I was in pretty severe pain last night and cried to my husband about relying on these drugs right now. He was so reasurring and just reitereated all that the OB has already told us. So I totally understand your reservations.
Also, when I went to the ER 2 weeks ago with the pain, the babies heart rate was over 200 just due to my out of control pain. One my pain was under control babies heart rate went down to 150.
Yikes, don't my spelling mistakes above, I was typing fast because I was actually excited (for lack of a better word) to see someone with the exact same worry as myself.
At any rate, Tylenol 3 is one of the oldest drugs around and has been used for years during pregnancy. Do not kill yourself with worry. Your OB is treating you with the right medicaiton.
