water doesn't always break?

I was shocked to learn that a baby can be delivered still in the "bag" of water! It isn't common practice in the US or many countries where the DR will break your water if it doesn't break on it's own. But in some countries it is totally normal and even considered good luck in some cultures. (something about lifelong protection for the baby)

I knew that it could happen since it was mentioned during my birthing class. I didn't know that some cultures consider it good luck though.
