Hey Ladies
I have a question and I hope it is not too stupid ha- this whole charting thing is fairly new to me. I stumbled across some info about luteal phase and since I didn't know exactly what it was (just that it came up on ff) I read more in depth. From what I understand a LF of 12-16 is what it should be and "they" say anything below 10 is a luteal phase defect but the website I read said some doctors consider anything below 12 to be a problem. My lf is 11. Should this be something I bring up with my doctor? I can call her tomorrow but I thought I'd ask you all first.
I don't want to make a big deal out of it if it is not but yet I don't want to take something lightly that may be affecting my ability to concieve/keep a baby...any insight is appreciated!
Re: ? about luteal phase (DS in siggy)
if yours is consistently at 11 then yes, i would mention it to the doc. a lot of REs dont even want to deal with a LP 12 and under and will put you on progesterone supplements. i know a couple women (IRL) that have had a LP defect and got pg after doing progesterone supplements.
however there are also many women that have short LPs and get pregnant. so it really just depends on your individual body's threshold. i would mention it though, it cant hurt.

Thanks! I will give her a call Monday.

it might not be something that you need to worry about. and if it was at 12 then i would say borderline....REs are just spazzes about LPs. but yeah, i consistently kept track of mine when i wasnt TTC just in case (its usually 13 days). have you ever had your progesterone checked?

I don't know if a luteal phase "defect" t actually affects the ability to concieve...the website I read (and I don't know how accurate it is so please don't take my word for it) said that it can cause early miscarriage.
I've never gotten my progesterone levels checked- my OBGYN said she could do it for me when I met with her after my m/c (she is my new doctor). I will definitely give her a call tomorrow. Thanks for the info everyone.

i would recommend getting it checked at 7 dpo. if i am able to get pregnant again, but then miscarry very early on again, i am going to request a progesterone check (and all other sorts of b/w).

Ah, I see. Thanks
