Infertility

what a day... NIFR

So I was sound asleep and I get a call from my hubby. I think it's him asking for my coffee order.. nope.. he hurt his shoulder at the gym and I needed to take him to the hospital..  So I threw on clothes and out the door I go.

We get to the ER and thankfully he doesn't need surgery, but they have to pop his shoulder back into place.  My hubby is a very big and muscular guy, so it took a lot of meds to knock him out...

While we are there though, there was a woman having a miscarriage.. I heard them say she was 22 days pregnant.  She was a "not so young" lady like myself.. when I saw her bed wheeled by, my heart just broke for her and I couldn't control myself and burst into tears..  when the nurse noticed, she thought I was crazy.. she tells me, it's just a dislocated shoulder, your husband will be ok..   I tried to hold it together.. but I just felt so bad for her.. and I've been there before.. Especially when I heard them saying to order her blood..  Honestly.. my heart just broke for her...

Husband has never had surgery before, and never been put under.. so come discharge time,  every time he would try to get up.. he'd get sick.. so needless to say, it was a very long day...

The meds have made poor hubby feel really sick, so I'm just taking care of him now.. but I need to whine for a min.. I was in the ER all day.. without any coffee or anything to eat.. So now.. I have a migraine.. and plus, crying and then trying to keep my emotions in check took a toll on me too..  So, I'm not trying to be insensitive or "all about me"  but ahh I needed to vent and let it out!!!

It was definatley not what we planned for this weekend.. and by all means, it could have been soo much worse.. but it still sucked!

Thanks goodness I didn't finish all that chocolate fudge cake from last night.. because the rest of it is calling my name right now.

I hope everyone is doing well...

  • Hugs...that is DEF a less than ideal way to spend ur weekend.  I'm sorry.  I would have felt so badly for the mc woman too, especially w so much bleeding.  I had a missed mc, so i never bleed.  I can't even imagine needing blood.

Sometimes you need to vent.  I hope ur DH feels better.  FYI if he ever goes under again, tell them he needs Zofran.  I get violently ill from anesthesia...and the zofran is a life saver.  Def call the dr, if he is still sick tomorrow.

  • Sorry you had such a rough day, I can't imagine.

For DH, if the Zofran does not work, there is a patch which works wonders.  It is a nausea patch you place behind the ear.

Glad you have the chocolate cake for you!
