yay for nipple shields

As some of you might remember, I got a last start to bf'ing due to having a number of complications after my c-section. I've mainly been pumping and supplementing with formula and trying to get him to latch onto my breast whenever I could, and this week he got less and less able to latch onto my breast. I got so emotional, but finally tried nipple shields. I can't believe I didn't try them sooner. My nipples are small, and this helps so much - I think because it is more like the bottle nipples. This morning he nursed on my left side for 15 minutes!

    Yay for you, that is so awesome! I have been using them since my baby was born. She is 10 days old today and I have weaned her from using it on the right side. It has saved me on the left side due to an inverted nipple. There is controversy with them but if they allow u to breastfeed why not right!? Congrats! :o)

    I am still using mine and my LO is 6 weeks. I have had no issues with supply, etc. Only downside to them to me is it makes it difficult to try to NIP but besides that I have had no problems.

    I use one too.  I am a little bent out of shape about trying to wean but I have started to not stress it.  I am just glad that he is able to use it.
